Vacation mode - again!

I’m going to have no internet for about a week (I think). What re the pros and cons of activating vacation mode? Does it affect your stats as to how long you spend on a level (ie by not counting that time as you’re not active)?

I realise I would have a load of reviews on my return. I’m planning to review my items manually while away so I’m hoping I won’t forget them all. Have about 150 apprentice items, though a load of those are 24 hours from Guru.

Well, personally, I put it on vacation mode if I know I won’t be able to do WaniKani for more than 48h, because a huge review pile is a lot more demotivating for me than spending a little longer on a level, but it depends on how you see it. Don’t underestimate huge review piles though. They have tackeled many before… Sneaky little things.

Is the main issue that you get repeated reviews coming up over the next few days? I think I could handle the initial pile OK.

If you know that you won’t have internet for a week, activating vacation mode is the wisest option. Without doing your reviews, they’ll accumulate. Regardless on how you look at it, your stats will be affected because you won’t be able to do anything. I can’t comment on how the stats site calculates level up time, but I’m assuming time runs regardless if you’re on vacation or not.

Even if I skip a day, I know I’ll be greated with over a 100 reviews, on very bad occasions 200, and that’s about the maximum I can handle XP To be honest, I forgot how many reviews I got at level 7, but I bet after a week it’ll be a huge pile anyway. Also, I second @LucasDesu here

Fair enough - I’m guessing I should take advice from people on levels 58 and 60!

I’m not too discouraged by 100+ reviews, and I’d be expecting maybe 500-600 at least if I didn’t activate. I do have four days off when I get home…

Very wise, listen to your senpai in the higher levels muahaha….

No, really, you know what’s best for yourself, we can only give our perspectives x] (Also, did that button not update again??? I’m 59 already! grrr…)

Yeah but because you haven’t done anything in a week the SRS system won’t do it’s magic and then you will have forgotten like 80% of those 500 reviews and they will add on to your review pile faster than you can clear it and before you know it you’re in demotivation city. And that’s a hard place to leave. I’ve been thoroughly set back by things like this before.
The smoothest way to go would be to stop doing lessons 2-3 days before leaving, try and get everything in Guru and then activate vacation mode. When you come back it will be like you never left and you can keep steaming ahead. In the end it saves you time.

@Korinoshikkan you have to log out & in if you want it to update I think.

Plan was not to do nothing - I was thinking of reviewing at intervals every couple of days to keep things in my memory. Who knows if I’d have done that though!

I would rather have a thousand reviews do and work through them at my own pace when I get back

Yeah well it’s been taking a little while lately, I’ve been the level for a few days now, but eventually it’s always changed so I’ll just be waiting patiently…. xp
