Team 火 is also known as team :fire: for people who want a premium experience and team phoenix informally. Due to complexity-issues @pensei didn’t allow us to use 鳳凰 (Fenghuang, Hoou in Japanese commonly known as Phoenix in Western culture) so we have to settle for the aforementioned 漢字・絵文字.
@TheFish just say the word and you’re in!

I was trying for like 10 minutes to get Python to accept the emoji but it was just not having it and then I was so frustrated I just changed it by hand
But I will try again, I do not want to change all the past days by hand :sweat_smile:

btw the emoji language looks like fun, will torture my students with it :smiling_imp:

Can’t you just use a comparison function and the unicode number of the emoji? Say “if team==[unicode]: replace([unicode],火)” or something like this?

Shoot, I’m totally down to give this a shot. Starting WK today at level 1 (though I have been exploring Japanese for a year or so now.) I doubt I’ll get to level 60 in 60 weeks, but why not have some fun along the way?

Yes that was my intention but for some reason python was not accepting the unicode, it was not even opening the file with the emoji in it. I tried utf-8, utf-16 and other stuff.
For sure some mistake on my side :relaxed:

Hey there, and welcome to wanikani! I’d suggest you try the Race to 60! December 2020 JLPT thread, since their deadline is a few months after ours, so you could get to level 60.

Getting from lvl 1 → 60 in 15 months is indeed pretty rough, as you’d need to go at an average of 8 days/level without a fail.
If that sounds like too big a commitment you should probably head over to Race to Your Goal! December 2020 JLPT instead, the deadline is 3 months later which makes it a bit more manageable.

I got them all out of the way on the train back home yesterday, but since I’ve slowed down and skipped lessons because of the wedding those aren’t looking good at all :sweat:
Getting used to 12 days/level will be pretty frustrating :sob:

I get notified for every reply to the topic anyways :man_shrugging:
