New People Questions! ~~~<3 [Lost?! Confused?! We're here to help!]

That’s handy. I never noticed such a thing but I will look for it next time. Thanks.

I didn’t even know this! Thanks, that helps a lot!

I reached the maximum number of likes yesterday, but today? Every time I’ve attempted to like a post I get this message:

What’s up with that? I think I reached max yesterday around 22:00 GMT+1. Could it be a time zone thing? Doesn’t seem like it should be…

Likes don’t replenish at midnight. Every like is on its own timeframe. So if you use 1 like at noon, you’ll get it back the day after at noon. So if you used most of your likes in the afternoon yesterday there’s a good chance you don’t have a lot of them back yet.

I joined in 2017, didn’t touch a single lesson, and then started just a few weeks ago.

Is there a way to eliminate the 4 year empty spot so my stats don’t look so strange?

You can click on the level bar in the graph, that will grey it out and eliminate it from the calculations.

It’s funny how I couldn’t figure that out myself. Thanks!

You could also use the ‘danger zone’ menu to reset back to the start

I wonder if anyone made a script that tells you when your likes replenish

If I remember correctly there was someone who did something like this. If I remember correctly their name started with a K and ended in umirei. I can’t remember the rest though, maybe you know who it was?

I’ve been poking around the different threads and it seems like people always talk about kanji being the difficult ones and vocab being easier. I feel like it’s the opposite because the vocab can have extra readings I didn’t learn with the Kanji or I have to remember all these sneaky little rules (like two kanji is one reading but if there are hiragana in there you’ll probably need a different reading). Is this just because the numbers are really abnormal? Do things get easier with less alternative readings? Or am I just thinking about this differently than most people?

Also! I know about KameSame but is there anything that gives you the pronunciation then makes you write down the vocab for it?

I’ve made an anki deck that does exactly that, but I don’t know of an out-of-the-box solution, sorry…

It does vary from person to person, but personally I (and I think most people) find the vocabulary harder than the kanji in WaniKani.

The abnormalities and things to remember that you mention do get easier later on, but that’s mainly just because more common kanji are more likely to have more readings. i.e. a really rare kanji probably would just have one main reading and show up in a few words, but something like 日 shows up in tons of common words with a lot of readings.
It gets easier with practice, as well!
