I’ll have to reread because for some reasons a lot of things seem fuzzy to me.
But I think he’s using reverse psychology on Hachi, and hopes that she will be the one that breaks Nana’s mom’s carapace and have her admit that she’s Nana’s mom, which would make for a great scoop.
Yeah I’m really not sure what 倉田 is up to either.. especially given what we know about him in the “present”..
Also I’ve noticed I just don’t care about the fan club story like..I sorta care about 美里 but otherwise whenever I see the those storylines I just kinda roll my eyes. 
I feel pretty much the same, but then I don’t get the whole 推し活 part of Japanese culture. YUYU had a great episode where he opined that 推し活 has replaced the role religion once played in Japanese culture….it was an interesting proposition.

Okay, so it appears that it isn’t only the Nanas’ that get a box for their narrating but any narrator (Akashelia and Shitsurei are probably rolling their eyes and muttering duh)
I didn’t roll my eyes! But yeah I think I had naturally noticed.
However I remember that the first 7-8 volumes where all Hachi narrating, then suddenly Hachi disappears and we get Nana’s perspective. But then I don’t remember when it switches again and if there is a pattern for when do we get each Nana, how many chapters, or is it a whole chapter or can it even change mid chapter.. It is certainly a bit chaotic. At least in Japanese (unlike with English or French) when you write Nana you know which one it is about.
I noticed too! They really do go way back.
