Okay, fast forward 6 years - Satsuki’s age - into the future….someone (Hachi?) still lives in?/ has the lease?/owns? the old riverside apartment. The old crowd - Shin, Nobu, Yasu and Hachi are there waiting for Nana (we’re already told Ren’s not coming) so they can go and see the fireworks together just like in the “old days”…but isn’t there a feeling that Hachi’s not really expecting Nana to show? And what does it mean that Hachi draws Nobu a bath? Are they together again? Or is this some kind of Hachi-hospitality thing? But then, if Nobu and Hachi were together, wouldn’t Satsuki’s relationship to Nobu be a little closer? And it’s not just me thinking that that doll Nobu buys Satsuki is the splitting image of Hachi? And given that Ren seems to have sent his apologies separately, does this mean he and Nana at this point are no longer together?

Yes fast forward 6 years, while also at the same time showing a flashback from the night with the fireworks that was at the end of volume 11.
I think Nana(s) never let got of the apartment, so they can use it from time to time, but I don’t think they live here.
I think the bath thing is just hospitality, Nobu says it laughing but she takes it seriously and go prepare it. I don’t think they are together, though it is not shown yet if Hachis still with Takumi or not. And Nobu does grab her hand in the bathroom…
I don’t think Ren and Nana are not together anymore, but yeah we don’t know much about Nana at this point!

I kinda feel like this was a cheap trick to take. It either means that we have a lot of drama coming and she wanted to be like, no wait, they’ll be ok, or … I mean I’m pretty sure that’s it bc I doubt that we’re going to stay in the future since so much of the books so far have focused on this mysterious reason why the Nanas aren’t talking anymore even though they’re thinking of each other a lot.
On the topic of things we can assume from the flash forward is that Blast isn’t still together, if Nobu, Yasu, and Shin haven’t seen each other in long enough to talk about how they look the same..
Just reread because I thought I was over the first read, but nope, cried again when Nobu cries T_T

All the talk about weddings, but doesn’t look like Nana & Ren are going to have that happy ending:
I’m also thinking now that Hachi probably never ends up marrying Takumi, but that he continues to financially support her and Satsuki in the way she always wanted to become accustomed to…and that she’s going to be okay with this outcome (part of me keeps hoping though that Hachiko ends up with her own cooking show….)
Feeling like I’m blaspheming here, but I actually like the way Hachi and Takumi interact - it’s not romantic, but comfortable, open even. The problem with Nobu & Hachi as a couple is pretty much how Nana ruthlessly sums it up in the previous chapter - he’s into rescuing girls and that’s not a great basis for a long-term relationship.
