Meaning of 分 in this sentence

“他人の干渉から離れ、煩わしさから解かれた分、一人では消化しにくい思いを抱えることが増え、犬や猫は大きな癒しの力を持ちはじめた。”

I really don’t know how to translate the part “煩わしさから解かれた分”, especially the usage of “分”.

It says “used as a suffix” though. Not sure I’ve encountered that usage before. This isn’t a suffix here.

I’m having trouble finding a good webpage explaining it, but it’s used when you are going to say an unexpected/undesired consequence of something after saying the planned (usually good) ones.

煩わしさから解かれた分、一人では消化しにくい思いを抱えることが増え
At the same time I got free from trouble, the amount of difficult thoughts I have to deal by myself increase

夏が終わって涼しくなった分、日が短くなってなんか損した気分になった。

新しく引っ越した部屋は広い分、掃除すごい大変。

Since I could not find a good website these are all example sentences by myself, so take them with a grain of salt.

So we can say it means something like “on the other hand…”

In Portuguese, we have a pair of expressions which I think that conveys the same meaning: “Por um lado…Por outro…”
