How this icon supposed to be loaded if I lost connection?

This should be something that was preloaded and is already downloaded to the browser beforehand for the case that the connection gets lost.
It seems like one of those icon fonts which hasn’t loaded correctly.

In my case the first time the browser tries to load the font is when connection is lost:
Looks like this is the weird modern technique when a font is downloaded in few symbol chunks when an actual symbol is needed.
And my browser doesn’t have any need to display this symbol before the connection is lost
