I’ve been trying to learn Japanese for several years, but every time I progress and build a solid foundation of knowledge, I’ve always done it solo, and I get discouraged because I get to the point where I need a partner to converse with, but don’t know anyone. I can listen to Japanese all day (and do most days), but I’m not in a position to keep up with native speakers so at best I’m just recognizing familiar words and phases. I’m almost level 7 on WaniKani, and I put in a lot of work outside of WaniKani too. So, if you have any interest in making an interesting new friend that you can converse with in Japanese, please respond. I’ll make it to Japan one day, but till then; someone lets ganbete. d34thcom3sripping@gmail.com is my email and hope to get to know you
I know exactly how you feel. I believe this is a very common struggle in the journey of an autodidact. I use the wonderful app SLOWLY. It is completely free and it’s made to make people from all over the world find your penpals. You can filter on region and language, making it so easy to find Japanese native speakers looking for friends to talk with from other parts of the world.
