Looking for a WaniKani (and potentially Genki I) study buddy!

Heya :pig: So today I was talking to someone and I casually shared a bit of my WaniKani pain, something along the lines of ‘Boo-hoo I have 200 reviews to do tomorrow.’ They obviously didn’t get how bad it was because they’re not into Japanese or WaniKani. I then realised I actually have no one in my immediate circle with the same hobby and it made me feel kinda sad :worried:

BUT I want someone to text me stuff like ‘uuugh I can’t for the life of me remember 行う I’m gonna break something :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:’! I want us to exchange memes about learning Japanese, share stories from our lessons, support and motivate each other, do friendly competitions, etc. so many more things, you get the idea…

I’ve recently completed Lv6 and soon will guru Lv7’s radicals. I’m also in the middle of Lesson 4 in Genki, slowly wading my way through grammar. I’m a chill and laid-back 28yo dude, friendly and easy-going (at least I like to think so lol), currently residing in Kazakhstan. I speak Russian (native) and English (fluent)

I couldn’t care less about age/sex/gender and the like! These mean nothing to me. I am not looking for a group, just for one human being to vibe with. If you’re around my level (not too far ahead) and you also think that learning Japanese can be ten times as fun when you have someone to vent to, support, exchange experience with, share a laugh or be a shoulder to cry on – please leave a comment or DM! :face_holding_back_tears:

Why don’t you start a study log? All of that can go into one, and I find I get support from
WK members in my own. If you start a study log let me know, I’ll follow it. I just finished Genki 1 and working through 2 now, so I’m not too far ahead of you but maybe can help if there’s a part you’re struggling through.

Hmmmm! That’s a good idea and does seem very tempting, though I suppose in addition to discussing our Japanese experiences, I just wanna make a friend, too… But maybe a study log can help with this as well? I’ll give it some thought, thank you!

I’m down for the Japanese learning study buddy, though I’m like one month away from finals (state exams). but other than that im down for some banter cus right now im learning hiragana and katakana so I’m able to write down other forms of Kanji in order to progress in WaniKani. you got a discord?

I feel we are on the same boat here. About the same level(7)and chapter 3 at genki with no friends to share with.
