1月14日 - Watched 名探偵コナン eps 236 and 237 at maybe 60% understanding. (Also, I edited my post from yesterday, as I had also watched 235 yesterday, and somehow mis-typed the numbers in there). I considered also watching 238 - 239, but they’re probably going to be on the hard side due to Hattori Heiji and his dreaded Kansai-ben. 
So I decided to wait, and instead listened to music for a while - anime theme songs and J-Pop, of course.

I should probably spend more time listening to Japanese! 
17th: I had a hour spanish online group class, but I’m only counting 30 minutes of listening since I was also participating in class while listening to my teacher and other classmates.
18th: Rediscovered Naoko today and watched her try Spanish Christmas sweets. I forgot how much I enjoyed her videos, but I hope she doesn’t just throw the polvorons she didn’t finish. Also learned this useful phrase: どれにしようかな －self talk used when you’re unsure which to choose among three or more options

HomeForgot to update yesterday, but I’ve continued listening to Yuyu yesterday and todayand that might be my podcast for the next bit. The episodes aren’t numbered, so I’ve just been letting youtube’s suggestions pick episodes but so far I’ve listened to episodes on an anime he recommends (Frieren), an orchestra performance (which was difficult, I have none of the vocab, even in English. Like oh コントラバス is contrabass, which I guess is some sort of instrument, but what is it?) and ranking frustrating things.

I’ve wondered if subtitles help properly build a connection between a word and its sound or if it’s something you’ll just have to hammer in without them. I have listened to episodes first with and then again without subs though to try to build it better.
Without Japanese subtitles I tend to miss a lot of words that I do know because I’ve only ever seen them in text and heard them maybe once in the WK lesson even when I get the context.

- I finished the なつめさんち 2024 art recap video! I had only started watching their channel a few months back, so it was fun to have a long form video
Episodes 36 & 37 of Gundam! AHHHHH 37 WAS REALLY GOOD! Man I am really interested in ララァ, she’s still very mysterious. I hope there will be satisfying answers/good plot surrounding her!!
Episode two of Babymetal’s メタラジ radio! They had Kanon and Mizyu from 新しい学校のリーダズ as guests!

Episode 20 of 4989 American Life
Episodes 1 & 2 of Medalist. I started reading the manga a while ago, and wanted to show my mom the anime! So we have to watch it with english subs. But I just did my best to not look at the subs, and then count it as half time. Is it maybe kind of cheating and not as good as straight immersion? Yes. But hey, is it a way to get some extra listening practice in on an activity that I would do anyway? Also yes 
- Episodes 38 of Gundam GRAHHHHHH IT WAS SO GOOD ONCE MORE, the Char and Sayla confrontation was so good, that’s my favorite crap in this show. More please, thank you
