I might be biting off more than I can chew, but I’m going to try to do all three of these ‘every day’ challenges (Listen, Read, and Speak/Write), at least to start the year. :slight_smile: This Listen one might actually be the easiest for me to maintain…provided I’m not holding myself to a certain level of understanding…

I’m in the middle of another re-watch of 名探偵コナン, and my level of understanding varies wildly from episode to episode - anywhere from virtually nothing to 90%+. Maybe I should try to actually record % understanding as part of this… I watched episode 214 today, and was understanding around 70-80%, so it’s a good day to start! :grin:

First day and I did two JapanesePod101 podcasts. (LIS6#21&22) before my guests woke up.

I was going to watch a YouTube video but didn’t have time. Thankfully they’re going home tomorrow so it should get easier to do this challenge :pray: I’m glad I made my requirements very easy so I can just work on building the habit.

Doing this alongside the reading challenge and it’s my third year in a row! This will be bilingual again: Japanese and Spanish. Goal as usual is 3-4 times a week per language.

Going to be listening to a mix of spotify podcasts, Satorireader audio recordings, youtube videos and netflix shows.

Spanish today. Will be trying M W F Spanish and T Th Sa Su Japanese.

Listened to 1 episode of Chill Spanish Listening and also had a Lingoda class where I practiced listening to my teacher and fellow classmates. Lingoda classes are pretty interesting especially when you have classmates from different countries. The accents are so different so I get to practice Spanish listening in different accents!

Excited for this challenge, this is by far the most problematic skill for me. At my humble level listening to Japanese feels close to listening to an alien language. Today for practice I picked three amazing Fuji Kaze songs (Hana, Hedemo Ne-Yo and きりがないから) and played those multiple times, writing down every word I could make out then comparing that to the actual lyrics. It’s not much, but it’s a start !
