kotu.io (201 rights, 87%, 87:91:83%). tbh, remembering vocabularies via audio or clips does involve recognizing and remembering PA; but I don’t find relearning particularly difficult.
Another Sayuri Saying Podcast #89 “How to make friends in rural Japan”. Apparently while the meet-up app can be used in Tokyo, if you are in a rural area you’d be better off using ジモティー, the Japanese equivalent to Craigslist. In this episode she joins an outdoor group & goes rafting for half a day and then (because it’s Japan) visits an onsen.
So I definitely get now why the drama has its own fandom tag on AO3, but like, why are the manga and anime separate too? The anime is literally the most faithful adaptation I’ve ever seen.
It took me a bit to realize it, but Chiaki’s name tag actually spells out “Chiaki” (千亜木 as opposed to 千晃, to make it into a surname). I guess they couldn’t use “Kobayashi” because that’s the usual employee’s name lol (I coulda sworn I’d seen a picture of him with the Kobayashi name tag, but that might have been a promotional image.)
(And while double-checking how to spell Chiaki’s name, I found out アオのハコ is getting an anime this fall! He’s voicing Kyou and Chiba Shouya is voicing Taiki. I’m excited!)
Just 10 mins of youtube today because I reached my 5 hours for the week already.
Yess, it feels so close. I’ll keep focusing on conversation as well, since it’s the kind of thing that’s easier to zone out of occasionally while still getting listening benefit. Reading more should also help audiobook listening, if I can improve my vocab pool a lot by learning words from reading.
That was the boringest movie I have ever seen ever. So much that I got really interested in my clicky pen and the guy on my Arizona iced tea. The last two movies are level 30, so I’m going to save them for later this month.
Watched another episode of Spy x Family today. I should be challenging myself with more podcast listening, but as the school year creeps ever closer, I find myself resisting anything that feels like a chore unless it absolutely must be done.
At the end of week six, I’m on track with JJK and Ghibli, but super behind on Youtube (three and a half hours behind ) I’d have to watch 30 minutes a day to catch up. But, I want to watch Pokemon Concierge, and リラックマとカオルさん, and ぐでたま…
Turns out disc 4 is just the making-of, which is like 3 hrs long, and I started it too late to watch all of it today.
No but it’s cute that while they were doing prep and filming for the park scene where Shun and Souma meet, Kawanishi (Souma) said he’d like to get a dog someday, his top choice probably being a pug—and then like immediately after that, three people walking their dogs go by, and one of them was a pug. A second one, some spitz breed or other, became interested in Kotarou (Sakura) and tried to go over to greet him, and that was adorable too.
Just listened to another episode of the Easy Japanese Podcast from back in March 2021. In this episode, he talks about a YouTube channel for English speakers learning Japanese.
Yeah, I feel the same way - happy to clock up listening time in a variety of ways. Also not too fussed about how much I do - although I prefer at least 10 minutes (the length of a shortish podcast)
動物あてクイズその2 for listening. Do, do hamsters have tails? I thought they didn’t? I had to google to confirm. Also, it amused me that a zebra is a stripey horse. As in, that’s it’s name. I was expecting ゼブラ or something since all the other animals were katakana versions of how I’d normally call them. But zebra gets to be しま馬.
Last night I made a new J-pop playlist for back-to-school; listened to it today. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I love it, but sometimes it takes me a few plays before I really respond to the unfamiliar songs. Here’s my favourite track:
Listened to an old YUYU episode (21 September 2019) . In it, they talked about an essay (essays?) set for students of Japanese written by the essayist 糸井重里 (Shigesato Itoi) and gave a brief overview of his life. I was listening while driving & got lost somewhere midway through the podcast so had to listen a second time to understand what they were talking about.
Hoping to watch Spice and Wolf later today if the new episode is released and if I have time, I’ll watch some more Tokyo Swindlers
