Got more listening done than I expected - I guess since I had a couple of chores to take care off. I also really enjoyed the Comprehensible Japanese video I watched today - learnt a lot of new things and also quite a bit of vocabulary.

Two episodes of JapanesePod101’s Lower Intermediate series today. One was about weather, and I learned some nice weather vocab from it like 霧⾬ きりさめ drizzle, 吹雪 ふぶき blizzard and どしゃぶり downpour.

Comprehensible Japanese

My first time listening to something in, uh… yup, don’t care to calculate how long lol
元ヤンパパとヒツジ先生 ドラマＣＤ「第１話」(13 min)
The voices I was using for them in my head when reading the manga are pretty close to the seiyuu who got chosen to voice them. That’s not always the case, so it’s cool when it is.
Been doing some listening, despite not really posting. I’m keeping up with occasional short sessions of Lost Judgment and happy I can handle that! Aren’t subtitles the best? Otherwise I’m just watching the usual Splatoon stuff. Should probably practice listening elsewhere but I end up choosing to spend most of that time reading instead. Getting really distracted with this stream right now when I should go get anki done haha.

Played some more Yakuza 0 last night, onto chapter 6! There was a lot more talking this time around (and of course, lots and lots of face punching), there was quite a bit of variation too - mumbly yakuza men, mumbly old yakuza men, mumbly angry yakuza men, mumbly drunken yakuza men, clear understandable bar lady, clear understandable secretary lady.
and today I watched a video about Japanese around the house:
I understood pretty much all of the short little phrases and sentences, though it was helpful to be reminded of them again. I thought this video was going rather well, understanding-wise, but when she began talking proper full complex sentences I got lost, and then when she started talking in Chinese with Japanese subtitles my brain turned into mush.

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to connect タッパ to “Tupperware,” especially considering I read this manga only a few days ago, since I know it better as “height.”
August 4th!
I had a lesson with my teacher today, so lots of listening practise. We talked about Game Bars, my plans for my week off work and did some exam style listening questions.
August 5th!
Today I listened to another episode of JapanesePod101’s Lower Intermediate series. It was about how to give your address to somebody in Japanese. It was pretty interesting.
Day 36! Kind of an interesting find today:
It’s a video made by a deaf woman, but she speaks along with her sign language, and does it so well that even I can understand most without subtitles. In fact, the video is her talking about why and how she speaks too, given she knows others who don’t.
Her channel looks interesting; I briefly skimmed the videos and she seems to bring on friends/acquaintances to talk about their experiences with other disabilities, or just things outside the dominant norms of the culture (I spotted "ジェンダーレス in a few titles).

Didn’t have much time for listening this weekend as usual, but I’m hoping to make up for it tomorrow, and listen to at least a few podcasts while running some errands.

I had a lesson with one of my tutors today, we talked about a recent trip he had been on, asthma and my plans for my week off work.
We also practised using しか〜ない and しかない.
