Today I watched another two episodes of Frieren, so pretty much caught up to to my manga progress again.

Okay, my last day & last 2 films at the JFF.
First up this morning was an anime, 屋根裏のラジャー which definitely had the feel of a Ghibli film. It’s been made by Netflix so I guess it’ll be available for streaming soon. Very much a kid’s film so I could have easily understood most of it without subtitles. I enjoyed it but don’t know whether I’d watch it again
My second film was 侍タイムスリッパー an affectionate and funny homage to 時代劇. A late Edo Period samurai finds himself transported to the present day and ends up working as a swordfighter stuntman.

I’ve been taking so many notes and I think I’ve discovered some really useful phrases and vocab. 
Noticing compound kanji I’ve learnt here is really cool too! I’m hopefully going to do jpod101 tomorrow because it’s been a little bit, but judging by how close I’m to the end of this show, I might not until the day after 
I love queer romance, so any suggestions for that would be amazing! I don’t come across much sapphic romance, though I haven’t really looked

I’m glad I’m able to try out other materials. In some cases, like in the Bungo Stray Dogs, I was able to encounter the vocabs I have learned recently.

October 19
Listened to Teppei for beginners #122 and checked out a few podcasts in preparation for the next day.
October 20
Went for a really long walk so I had a few hours of listening. Listened to 4 episodes of The Miku Real Japanese podcast, one of which was an over 40 min long conversation. I have no idea what level these are supposed to be but it was definitely harder than Teppei for beginners so it was nice to see I wasn’t completely lost and I could actually follow the conversation even if I missed some details. Then I also finished episode 2 of the ガリレオ series and watched over half of the 3rd chapter.
I usually like some structure in my studying so I’d prefer to go through one podcast in order but I think it’s a good time to check out various podcasts and variety of listening is probably good so…we’ll see. I’ll keep the Teppei for beginners for the busy days anyway.

Sayuri Saying Podcast #240 政治
A political conversation between Sayuri & MoshiMoshi (actually more like him holding forth and her occasionally saying something) about what Japan should be doing for its future. Amusing to hear two childless people on the importance of increasing the birthrate in Japan while reflecting on their own childlessness - and a bit rich when Moshimoshi pushes parenting onto Sayuri saying 僕は今更だけど、さゆりさんは、まだね (For me it’s a little late, but for you Sayuri there’s still time). I thought she seemed uncomfortable and to honest, I was too - (no immigration; increase the baby bonus - while not discussing the cultural/societal reasons why Japanese people are not choosing to have children; get into the space race)
