Thank you! Yes, I get old kanji now and look at them and don’t remember seeing them before. This is a good time to slow down for sure!
I’m using Tobira as my textbook. For as long as I have had it, I have seen these kanji as just decoration and not something that I can read.
Then WaniKani gives me this in level 11:
And now I can actually read what the cover of Tobira says. It’s the best feeling!
Wow 扉 (とびら) itself is level 47 ._.
Then I’m glad they put that word in hiragana!
Very nice. Personally I was able to read ‘the basics’ in my textbook the other day and I got really excited.
This is surprisingly fun. I’ve never played this type of game before and I guess I’m not part of the intended demographic but after you mentioned it I decided to just check it out and see what’s what. Most of the Japanese is way above my pay grade but at least I can understand some of it thanks to the English subtitles I’m really enjoying this, thanks!
Oh I’m so happy! As previously mentioned I absolutely love this game. I’m not sure who the intended demographic would be exactly, but I know it was very popular when it was first released. This is my first time hearing any of the Japanese audio, and it’s honestly a very different experience than just hearing the voice actors read the translations out word for word. I really hope you stick with it, it’s a great game. It blends elements from a lot of different genres, and as far as I know there’s nothing else exactly like it.
Perfect! 100% correct, congrats!
I thought it’s intended for teens, but I never did grow up so I guess that’s ok then
I guess the protagonist is a teen so that’s a reasonable assumption, but you wouldn’t be the first adult to enjoy this game
I also made it to level 12. Level 11 took me 20 days but one reason was I slowed down a little cause the Burn items and many Master items popped up
This gave me like 170 reviews sometimes a day and I decided not to get more items in the queue.
I am glad I only failed a few burns and about 99% of the items actually also were burned. Some of them were also quite stupid that I didn’t burn them like transitive/intransitive forms
I’m still looking forward to the first burns…
I’ll level up in a few hours, but I still have to do most of 11’s vocab. I was working the night shift this week and I managed to keep up with my reviews, but I haven’t done any lessons for the past few days. It’s just too exhausting. I’m staring at these kanji thinking ‘hey I know I’ve seen you before, do you come here often’ and my mind just goes blank… Accuracy scores aren’t that good right now.
バーンをおめでとうと! 気持ちいいね〜
I’m over level 11 and I’m only 10 days in! UGH! I can’t bring myself to learn more Kanji! Definitely a good place to slow down, according to several people on this thread. I’m just going to chill out and clear my gigantic (~500) guru pile. I’m happy to have gotten apprentice down to 50.
I plan to spend a couple of weeks on level 12 too. Definitely a good place to slow down!
Hey Study buddies. I’m having trouble remembering the kanji in my reviews. Try to catch up to me while I take level 14 super super slow.
Hi everyone, I finally made it to level 12. I was on such a good track when I stared with level 11. I was about to level up after about 15 days… and then I got sick. Just one day before leveling. it was so bad I had to put WK on vacation mode for a week. When I returned I could remember anything. I even got 50 or more vocabs hopping back from guru to apprentice. So annoying. I am now on track with my apprentice stack but I could´t do an new lessons… now I have about 160 of them. oh boy… let´s see how long this level will take me…
Welcome to level 12! So many of us in this thread slow down on level 11 and 12. You’re in good company!
Yes, it is probably the better option to go slow, but before getting sick I tried from going extremely slow to slow.
I am aiming for around 18 days per level, trying to reduce it from 21 or higher.
Returning is the hardest part and you already managed to do that. Those lessons are a nothing. They will crumble under your 鉄の心 (I doubt that’s correct Japanese but I hope you get my point)
