So to make sure I understand this correctly (could be I don’t)
You can check your results online on that date? And then they send you the results by mail?
Or at least the certification thing.
Or do they just send you a “You passed/failed” message?

Yes, on that day, you can check the results online using your registration number and the passcode you filled in on your registration form. You will see the score for each section and your overall score and whether you passed or failed.

And then, at a later point (timing will depend on the test location) you will receive a letter with your certificate that states pass or fail and some details about how well you did in which section and compared to other participants.

The certificate can be found on google image search: https://www.google.com/search?q=jlpt+certificate&rlz=1CDGOYI_enAT850AT850&hl=en-US&prmd=ivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwin05_4g4PkAhUOwsQBHUinDK4Q_AUoAXoECBAQAQ&biw=414&bih=722

I don’t remember entering a password at any point😱 does anyone from Leiden have more info?

This is a general thing, not a testsite-specific one. On your registration form, you were asked to give an 8-digit number (“must be exactly 8 digits; must only be numbers, no characters” or something was the description). Even the online form I recently used asked for that.

If you forgot your number, that’s no problem; you just need to wait another month or so until the results get sent to you via snail mail

Thanks a lot for the clarification

I put my password as my birth date tbh, thought that was easiest to remember.

I’m reaaally hoping i had a sudden moment of brightness and put my birthdate as well. It’s the most logical combi of 8 numbers. It’s also the only reason I can think of for not writing it down anywhere.

I assumed I must have done the same thing last year and then panicked when my birthday didn’t work. It turned out to be my old student number (which I only figured out thanks to someone in an old thread mentioning they had used their student number).

My student number has 7 numbers😱 I may have used it in combination with another number though, I was extremely distracted by exams at the time so past me was very unpredictable

@Cielomarcello - there is this, I used to go many years ago and it was great fun, then I left Japanese study for many years, so I don’t know if it is still running. If you find out, please post and let me know. I guess just email them. http://www.hashinokai.org/about.html

-deleted in order not to confuse anyone. results are coming on the 27th…-

I think It only says that the registration for December starts on the 20th, but I don’t see an exact date for the online results anywhere. Seems like they still say 8月下旬:

I’m taking the N5 in London in December. Anybody else here doing the same?

If you were going at a pace of a level a week or about that. You should be good for N4. But I don’t know how much prep time that would leave you after. I am going at about 8 days a level (as fast as I can) and wkstats says I’ll be at N4 95% by late September.

Yes, I’m also intending to do N5 in London. Registration at SOAS opens on Tuesday I believe.

At the moment I’ve been focusing on going through the Genki book, so my WaniKani-ing has faltered. I’m doing reviews once a day, but no new lessons because of time constraints. I did previously get to level 17 on WK, but I had to reset after a two year break as I couldn’t remember a thing. So I want to get N5 hammered into my brain. I’d rather pass N5, then go for N4 next summer. I’d rather a certificate to say I’ve made some progress, haha.

Though according to the Bunpo app, I’ve apparently just finished all the N5 grammar in Genki. Didn’t take me too long, six weeks to two months ish? Though it’s getting more difficult as I go.

I shall see you there, then!

I’ve been counting down the days until registration opens… Do you think a minute past midnight on the 20th is too early?

Haha you are right. I only saw a post about it on reddit and then I saw the date there when I tried to super quickly fact check. I didn’t bother reading the text because… it was all in Japanese, how am I supposed to read that. Still working on overcoming that mental block…

Sorry for the fake news everyone! It is the 27th for everyone then.
