Japanese Language Input on Samsung phone

I’m trying to use kana input rather than romaji input on my phone, i figured I’m at the point where i need to stop using it as a crutch.

The thing is, that for some reason my phone (Samsung A21s) won’t let me activate it. My phone’s software is completely up to date so it isn’t that. I’ll try and attach screenshots, the option is there for the swipe kana input, it’s just not lettinf me select. Any suggestions as to why this may be?

I confess I don’t know anything about Samsung settings, but most of the results Google coughs up suggest installing Gboard from the Play store instead.

Aside from anything else, I can’t say I’ve ever heard the kana flick keyboard be called “8Flick” before - it’s a 12-key keyboard.

Instead try tapping on the one above it (languages and types) to choose qwerty vs flick jpn key board.

EDIT:

This is what I did  I like it better

Honorable mention to Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard too. It’s what I use

It’s the only qwerty jp input I could find where the keys are in the exact same position as English and I can use space as 変換

I use SwiftKey and instead of multi-tapping I choose to swipe. It’s much faster than multi-tapping.

Or… flick, perhaps? It’s called a flick keyboard for a reason. :stuck_out_tongue:
