It’s a little limited if compared to other dedicated tools, but it looks great! I plan on using it as well to fill up my knowledge gaps after I finish the grammar points
Time for the last chapter of the king’s birthday! Let’s see what @drdru meant when he said he has bad news… ![]()
As I had suspected: There is a cliffhanger in the middle of the story, argh! Looks like we’ll have to wait for part two ![]()
Anyway, looks like I’m finished with the next story now. How did I like it? It was quite nice, I’d give it a solid 8/10.
The cliffhanger sucks a bit, but perhaps @drdru will make a second part if we ask him very nicely?
(I guess the cliffhanger does what it’s supposed to do: making me want to read the continuation lol)
Anyway, I’m looking forward to Markus’ ascend now, which is kinda the elephant in the room, with over 100 individual chapters! ![]()
happy belated birthday!!
thank you for all the cool resources you’ve posted about. i had no idea that some of those userscripts existed so i’ve saved them for later. esp the rendaku info, item difficulty indicator, visually similar kanji, and confusionguessor userscripts. i think i might need to go to userscript abuse jail lol i keep adding more xD
i also didnt know about drdru’s site but it looks really good and i’ve saved that for when i have more grammar under my belt.
i really liked reading through this whole log. you’re so disciplined and i could learn a thing or two on that xD good luck on your learning journey!
There is never going to be a part two for The King’s Birthday and here is the reason.
My plan is to create a very epic adventure that aims to be as good as FF6. I have most of it outlined (I even have some pages halfway done). I will only have one attempt to do it right so all these smaller stories are actually backstories for my characters have real depth.
Aryn will be one of my main characters and she will meet the others a few days after her father’s birthday. The story of how she saves the Kingdom will not be independent. It will be part of the main plot.
Markus that you will discover soon will play a huge role as well.
Like you read in an other thread, I’m not feeling 100% at the moment and I don’t feel I could produce something that meets the quality I want my work to have. It will take some time but I know I will get back to this project in the future because it really matters to me.
Thanks a lot! ![]()
Happy to hear the list helped you!
I plan to rewrite the OP btw (BIG NEWS) since a lot of things have changed since then, and I realised that the first thing that people see when they view this thread for the first time is the OP. I’m not sure when I will do that, but it’s definitely on my todo-list. The most important thing, namely the scripts list, is already there, but I haven’t told there what is use to learn Grammar, to practice reading etc, and I wanna add that.
I highly recommend it, it’s really awesome for beginners like me! Also, regarding the grammar, you can view the JLPT estimations of the stories here. ![]()
Thanks a lot!
I honestly didn’t think someone would take the time to read through the entire thread ![]()
Sounds like an intersting plan
I’ll be waiting for it ![]()
Aha, so the second part of the king’s birthday is kind of part of another story? Glad to hear that, I really wanna know what happened to the folks in the castle ![]()
Not only his role is huge, also his story ![]()
I wish you the best and hope that you’ll start to feel well again soon! ![]()
Frend… go to school at Genki Jacs in Japan… make other autistic friends.
It’s a wonderful thing going to school in Japan. Get your parents to pay for it too… It’s the way of A-san…
OH… Who is A-san you’re asking? I will tell you!
If you don’t know who Mighty A-san is yet, you might want to learn about your lord and savior of Japanese Pera Peraness…
You can learn more on oted on his outdated Facebook fan page and website: Aさん || Church of A-san -
You can read clearly the truth: A-san, the reason fluency exists! For all those who have found fluency in Japanese have also found A-san, and ONLY through A-san can we see, speak and hear the light of the Japanese language.
Praise B, A-san. Nani, Dare, Doko and the holy Shikaku Doushite.
So it’s really simply frend… you don’t find A-san in your heart… bud… you might as well give up now!

I suggest printing out the image of our glorious A-san’s face and hang it on your walls… in fact, you want to cover all of your walls with his face. Even if your parents disagree with what you’re doing. Do it anyway.
…But there is a lot of good scripture on the Facebook page. Be sure to dive deep, really get to KNOW A-san!
“Nani, Dare, Doko and the holy Shikaku Doushite.”

WHAT IN THE NAME OF ILLUMINATI???

Praise A-san!
You pass on your positive energy @NeoArcturus! I have the first 3 pages of the main story that are quite advanced. I’ll see if I can find it in me to finish them. If I can do that I might be able to move the story to the point when they meet Aryn.
Don’t expect anything too quickly though. I have to read my notes and get back into my characters’ heads before starting.
If you want to know a bit more about what happened in バールド during ゴゴツとの戦い when リンダ将軍 distinguished herself in battle, there’s a section of my other project that tells this story.
It starts here and stop 17 pages later at this url : https://drdru.github.io/stories/4_24_gogotz_house.html
It also introduce an other character that will be part of the main story.
Happy to hear that!
Don’t worry, there’s no pressure on you (at least not from me) ![]()
Huh, where did that come from?
Didn’t know that you made this as well, I’ll definitely read through it (probably without translations, though, it seems like a loooooooooooooot
)
My first project was to build the resource I wish existed when I started learning Japanese : some content that you can read without stopping to look up unknown words in a dictionary and that would build simple stories of increasing complexity while being genuinely fun and enjoyable.
It starts here : https://drdru.github.io/stories/intro.html
There are 100 pages of such content for a rough number of 500 words introduced in context.
My ultimate goal would be to introduce enough words that you can then smoothly transition to reading the Tile World Chronicles. But that will probably take more than a decade of work !
Learning Japanese has motivated me to start moonshot projects !
oohh thats exciting. cant wait to see the new one.
that was super helpful! thank you. i’ve started n5 grammar and i’m slowly going through it on marumori.
it was a great read! you’ve got a great writing style, very engaging.
Wow, that sounds like an awesome plan! It will probably take a lot of time, yes, but I’m sure that you can do this ![]()
Thanks a lot! ![]()
OMG, we’re finally there, guys! I’m so excited for it! It’s time to read Markus’ Ascend! It consists of 6 different parts, you can easily look them up here. The JLPT level is N4+, so this should be quite challenging! ![]()
As usual, my pace will be two chapters per day. Anyway, enough talking, let’s go!
In the Tile World, the use of the devices that came as Runes spread.
This new device that allowed communication changed the world completely.
Under the control of the great technician Markus and three companions, they produced a lot of Rne Craftas (I have no idea what that this is supposed to mean
) from the city Aktis.
Before he became a great technician, Markus was a kind boy.
![]()
(Markus:)
In the space between Nerobi and Aktis at the village Rock Town that was at the foot of a mountain there, one boy seemed to be very busy.
(Markus:) I wonder who will carry the necessary stuff? There is also a Compass, Food and a sword at the map. Alright, I’m getting ready!
![]()
(Markus:) Let’s go hunting for Runes!
I’m pretty sure I messed up a lot with the Katakana ![]()
From Deepl : The use of devices containing runes was widespread in Tile World.
In the context of the story I’d rather translate it as engineer.
Rune crafters ![]()
Thanks for the corrections! I honestly had no clue at クラフタ ![]()
Alright, I updated the OP. I basically just made it friendlier
But I also included some more resources.
That’s very nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaice of you! ![]()
Hello, time for two more chapters! ![]()
(Markus:)
The place where he collected Runes was far away from the house of the boy.
(Markus:) I don’t know this way. I wonder where it leads to?
…
(Markus:) But I think that this is the correct way. If I go to East like that, I should arrive at the small pond.
![]()
(Markus:)
(Markus:)
The boy walked for two hours. It was still morning.
(Markus:) I’ll rest near the pond. It’s a good place to eat a meal!
![]()
(Markus:) This sandwich is delicious!
Groar
(Markus:) What is this sound? Yikes, it’s a bear!
Four chapters in and the action is getting wild already?
I love it!
