with christmas coming up soon im going to give my girlfriend a few presents before i have to go visit family for the christmas week. one of the things im getting her is a pokemon plush from japan and it came with a little tag with space to write something on. i want to write “thank you so much for being a wonderful girlfriend” in japanese on it [she doesnt know japanese]
from my current knowledge of grammar and vocabulary it is “素晴らしい彼女がありがとうございます” but i want to check in with people more knowledgeable before i accidentally either say what i dont mean to or just use wrong grammar

The literal translation with “thank you for being (something)” would be something like
素晴らしい彼女でいてくれてありがとうございます
But it might be more natural to say something like
素敵な彼女へ、いつもありがとうございます
“To my wonderful girlfriend, thank you for everything”
Changed 素晴らしい to 素敵 as well since it’s a bit more natural to use with people.

This is completely wrong, so its a good thing you asked I guess.
In japanese, we don’t say “Thanks for being…” often like we do in english, so any direct translation…e.g.
いつも素敵な彼女でいてくれてありがとう
is going to sound unnatural. With that being said, if she doesnt speak japanese, the most important part is what you tell her it means in english and not how it sounds in japanese. Leebos alternative has my vote as well if you want something more natural. I personally would not use ございます though
