It’s normal for some people to take a long time to get started and get in their groove so to speak. There’s a bunch of people with years on level 1-3. Just need some sorta spark or motivation to learn kanji, usually like some book you wanna read.
Mine was related to my profile picture of Asuna as @MissMisc noticed. I’ve mentioned a couple times in threads that I enjoy light novels especially Sword Art Online. Translators come and go and I got frustrated in the change of quality from one to the next so that was one reason.
Also I’ve noticed that I enjoy picking up small details about certain things that light novels drop. In SAO a curious quote “The sunset. The meadow. The gentle breeze. The slightly cold weather.” which drove me to physically buy the source material because i kept thinking “how close is this to the real meaning?” Now there’s times I understand why translators specifically word things a certain way.
Congratulations. My progress is similar (a little slower - lvl 41 after 3 years), so I’m feeling the glow of pride you must be feeling … and will hopefully be reaching level 60 myself by the middle of next year.
Yes absolutely, considering how many ups and downs I went though, I also felt demotivated over how many people were hitting 60 after I started. I’m also no longer as free as a college student with a full job with day/night shift work + more overtime on top of it.
As long as you’re slow and steady, I know the feeling… “nooo i don’t wanna press the lesson button nooow! -sighs and presses anyway-”
Haha, it’s just weird timing that @jneapan also finished his journey at the same time. good luck!
Congratulations,
That is fantastic - wow
