I got caught at work reading manga and watching anime once. I am the head of the school library so my supervisor only drops in occasionally as she is responsible for all the schools in a certain district. I didn’t know she was coming so I had to quickly switch to a next tab but the way my laptop was situated meant that she could see what I was reading when she walked in the room. I have a new office now and my desk faces the door so my laptop screen is hidden which means I can hide any manga/anime when my supervisor comes.

Whether you like it or not you have to listen to the boss. Their place, their rules. Your reviews aren’t as important as your job, and if they have nothing to do with your job, I can understand your boss being annoyed.
My coworkers see me doing reviews, but I live in Japan. I don’t need Japanese for my work however (English teacher) so they have every right to say I shouldn’t study at work. However, I’m lucky that they actually help me study (they found JLPT practice questions and quizzed me haha).
Either get smart about it or don’t do them at work. WaniKani isn’t a race.

That is like asking for a needle in a haystack. The work i do is nowhere related to japanese by any distance.
I literally have two screens open at all times - one where code is compiling or running, and one where I check emails and do things like reviews. Always have an excuse.
Also, has anyone set alarm clocks to do reviews on time? XD If it’s midnight and there’s a review in 3 hours, I usually have the urge to get up for it… haha
I usually minimise the browser when my boss comes. The thing is that nobody has a problem with my japanese including my team mates except him. But yesterday i minimised the browser, all i had was a desktop screen. But he came to my PC & just opened the browser which i had minimised. Then he saw what i had been doing. And he warned me if i ever do that gain, he’ll fire me. Damn, i wish i had closed that browser when he came. From today i am being very careful about doing reviews. Every minute i have to keep checking if he has come or not. My efficiency at wanikani will surely get reduced by this.

Honestly i don’t care much about that job anyway. I will leave that job in an year . I want to be either a Japanese language teacher or translator in the coming time. I’m sick of this job.
Reviews are much more important than my job.Iam going to kiss this job good bye anyway in a year or so.

I come to work an hour early and do my study and fit most of my reviews in then. Office is open and my boss has no problem with me doing this, then I just move straight to my work when I reach my start time.
Gives me a deadline to hit all my reviews by too.

@prashantng you won’t be kissing anything goodbye if you get fired first. Be wise about doing reviews. Your boss is shitty for checking your stuff tho. Hope everything works out for you.
