Hi, I love the WaniKani system and how everything works, and I would really like to buy the lifetime subscription, but when you convert the price to Brazilian currency it’s really expensive, it’s 1,5 month of work (1,5 of my entire monthly wage) to get the lifetime, and honestly i don’t see the point of getting any other of the options, since I know I can’t really learn enough in only 1 year in my speed, and the 1 year subscription it’s actually half my monthly wage, so not really cheap aswell… So maybe there’s a way to get a discount? A promotional price in black friday? Someone know about something like that?

There is usually a discount around christmas where lifetime is 100$ off

currency exchange ratio for us brazilians is very bad.
late 2020, I also could only get one year subs because of how much it would be in the end.
I hope in the end of this year I can get a discount for lifetime.

I was able to email wanikani support when i was done with three levels and got a 20% discount! I imagine they would give you the same thing if you ask.

As already mentioned, email them and they’ll usually give you one. It’s for the 1 year subscription I believe. Also any unused time on your subscription will be prorated and discount the lifetime subscription on top of the usual Christmas discount.

I THINK the code they gave me could have been used with either the one year or lifetime. But my brain is swiss so…

You’re probably right. The Christmas sale amounts to about 33% off lifetime, so I think using the 20% on the one year then getting lifetime at the end of the year is cheaper. I was mostly clarifying that it wasn’t going to discount a monthly subscription, since I’ve seen that asked before. I haven’t seen the discount they give when you ask myself, so I’d trust your knowledge over mine.

Also, to add to what people have been saying, the reason support gives people a 20% off code is because there’s also an automatic email from Wanikani a while after you finish the free levels that gives 20% off. So they give that out either way. And yes, if you upgrade to lifetime in the Christmas sale, it will give you another discount based on how long you have left in your current subscription.

Oh right, get it guys, thank you very much for all the replies, i’m going to finish lvl 3 to get the 20% to buy the 1 year, and wait until Christimas sales to upgrade to the lifetime subscription…

By the way, nobody mentioned that you get credit on the part of the yearly subscription you don’t use when you upgrade to Lifetime.
Make sure to check for the sale as much as you can when December 18th approaches so you get the biggest savings!

I checked my mails and I guess there wasn’t discounts after 2019 
Turkey’s economical state is bad too so I think I’ll wait for a discount for lifetime membership
