èȘ€è§Ł: what a cute little story. Nigelâs POV, sometime after vol. 3 ch. 7 (when heâs introduced to Blackie for the first time). We start in media res, which threw me for a bit; Nigelâs upset about something related to Blackie, and Kaitoâs trying to calm him down a bit. Turns out that some time back Blackie started throwing up a hairball on deck and Nigel, knowing nothing about cats, thought he was dying. Cue a commotion, with Kaito eventually coming on scene to explain it.
Nigel ends up embarrassed, but Kaito manages to convince him that itâs all right, that no oneâs making fun of him for it and instead they just see it as how much Nigel cares for Blackie. The story ends with a sweet hug between the two (Nigel and Kaito, not Blackie. ).
çæ also done! This one was particularly hilarious, I thought. Geoffrey POV, and takes place sometime between volumes 3 and 4; Blackie is here, and we start the story off with Geoffrey off of Sagres, Portugal fetching the mother goat they needed to take milk from to feed Blackie.
Anyway, Geoffrey hears from ăăŒă·ăŒ that someone(s) in the crew might have âfeelingsâ for Kaito, which immediately sets him to investigating. He brings Nigel in, and the two begin going on the lookout for anyone with unpure intentions who might be hanging around Kaito. Needless to say, though they interrogate a few crew members, nothing comes up, and ăŠăąăł finally talks some sense into them, saying that even if anyone did harbor such foul intentions, Nigel and the Captain were far too formidable opponents to want to have to tangle with.
This is the kind of story I love and wish we were able to get more of in the main volumes: slice of life type stuff onboard the Gloria. You know thereâs a ton of downtime for our heroes in between main plot stuff, and surely shenanigans like this are happening all over the place. Iâm glad we get a bit of them in the extra shorts, at least.
