Historical Figures, Events and Places
The book mentions a lot of real (as far as we know ) historical figures and events. Here are some information resources on them. (Please be aware that if you want to go in 100% blind, these lists will contain some spoilers for you)
Please add Chapter, Page, if possible, when something is mentioned in the story.
Started and finished 夏日 today; it was a wonderful little story. Unlike the other drama CD booklets, this one’s told entirely through Vicente’s perspective, after he, Kaito, and Leo have left Lisbon and are on their way to El Escorial. This leg of their journey has them traveling by river, and in order to give Kaito a break from the harsh summer sun (since he hasn’t completely recovered from being tossed into the ocean by that priest), they decide to camp out for a night. Kaito gets to show off his culinary skills that night, and he and Vicente get to chat a bit.
A really nice part of all this is all the extra interaction Kaito gets with Leo; he interacts more with Leo than with Vicente, actually, and it’s really nice to see them squabble and work together on things. Kaito’s friendship with Leo didn’t get that much screentime in the main series, so I’m really glad we got a little bit of that here.
Anyway, they wake up the next morning, and while fighting over who would wash the clothes Geoffrey gave Kaito, Kaito and Leo get swept up in a nearby river. Leo can’t swim, but Kaito’s able to rescue him, and the trio decided to stay in the area for a while longer to let their clothes dry and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere before starting on their journey again, as El Escorial will probably be quite stressful for them all.
Vicente’s almost as bad as Nigel in terms of his pining here, but he does have the leg up in that, since he has Kaito for the foreseeable future, he’s pretty optimistic about their future together. Honestly he and Leo make a great pair as well; they really all feel like a family unit. I’m glad this booklet also just focused on one perspective/story this time around; it was nice to let it breathe a little bit. These drama CD booklets continue to be excellent, much better than someone might anticipate for a purchase bonus.
