Hello! If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember me as the guy who made KameSame back in 2018—some of you might still even use it! Well, I’m back! This time with an iPhone game for you to play around with.
Recently, I’ve transitioned to native Apple platform development and Swift, and I decided I’d start with a little game to teach people and/or help them improve their Kana keyboard abilities. It’s a falling blocks game that challenges you to type the words before they hit the bottom of the screen. The flow is inspired by Lumines and Tetris Effect, where clearing a level also clears the screen and restores your health. Even though I developed it to support language learners, every Japanese person I’ve shown the game has been almost immediately hooked by it.
You can check it out on the App Store – the game is completely free. If you want to support development, it’s 99¢/¥100 and unlocks an “endless” mode where you can keep playing even if you’d otherwise have run out of hearts. In the future, I may add a mode for custom levels / word lists, or the ability to share an article or document and “play” its contents as an ad hoc level.
