My heatmap indicated first burns on 11 June (I must have read it wrongly) so it’s a happy surprise today!

Congrats!
I started in Dec too and will have my first burns tomorrow. I have to say I’m starting to have respect for the large enlightened number.
I wonder if I can burn them all  I guess good luck to both of us!

Hmm, when did you start? I believe it’s 6 months after you first learn an item, assuming you get it correct in every review :o

I’m very slow - 6 months in and on lvl 9, but you’re going more than double my speed and under 6 months :o

Congratulations!!

I started in December, too. I’m way behind on my vocabulary (quality rather than quantity), so I recently got my first burned items sort of all at once, lol

why my burned item still zero ? huh whats wrong with mine :disappointed_relieved:
anyway, congraaat :cherry_blossom: :cherry_blossom:

If you’re going full speed, that’s normal. You’ll be around level 24 when the first burns come up.

You’re missing out on about half the readings of the Kanji you’re learning by not doing the vocab and not reinforcing the readings you are learning. Would recommend reconsidering since you’re this early in the journey.

Wait, if I do fewer lessons at a time, do I not get the same content from the lessons, just more slowly? (I used to be the DO ALL THE THINGS person, but I’m working full time and have general life stuff + living in Japan for my first year + COVID-stress-inattention/anxiety/health issues, and I’ve also been using Duolingo + dabbling in Kanjitree, Bunpo, and Infinite Japanese, so a faster pace just hasn’t been happening for me because self-care. BUT I’m about to reevaluate my study plans, so I gots to know these things.)

EDIT: For context, I only have 35-50 new vocabulary in my WK lessons; it’s not built up in the thousands like some people have mentioned on their profiles. I do keep trying to whittle it down 10-15 at a time, but then even more appear…

I think they may have assumed (as did I) that you were using a re-order script to completely skip past the vocab lessons and only do kanji/radicals.

Oh, yeah, we don’t do that here. XD

I’m currently going slow too (This time last year I was levle 42  ). But there is some value in the point, even if it was meant as a “don’t skip vocab”.

I leave kanji in my lesson pile, cause those can wait till I feel like learning something new.
But vocabulary is best learned shortly after a Kanji guru, while it is still fresh in your mind.
So spreading out is good, just try get the vocabs shortly after it comes in, and use the other items (kanji and radical) to set the pace =)
