Revive loops are terrible in this game. You can’t do the classic “revive with one character, heal with another” because the characters will just go in the wrong order and waste one of the casts, then the enemies kill whoever you just revived! Having a Knight kind of helps, but he can’t protect against the massive AoE attacks that every boss seems to have.
musings
It’s definitely the weirdest one. From the start until the water crystal I was actually on board. The game moved fast, the dungeons were short and creative, there was a lot of fun setpieces.
But then I don’t know what happened. This week’s dungeons are straight up horrendous. I almost ragequit my own club when I lost a run two tiles from the end of the 古代遺跡 due to a back attack.
When I played the flying continent section I was actually trying to figure out if I would rank this game above 1, but now I actually think it may not even beat 2.
Only two more weeks and we leave turn based behind us… Active Time Battle my beloved.

自動販売機 is probably one of the most unlikely words in the script of this game.
I wonder where the money goes. I feel like the economics don’t add up.
I actually noticed that you hadn’t understood that last week when you talked about one of the trapped chests in the sunken cave:
I didn’t say anything because I wanted you to suffer didn’t want to spoil it.
That would explain why I found him a lot easier to defeat on Famicom. Generally my impression so far is that the dungeons and random encounters are harder on Famicom because you’re lacking a lot of quality-of-life improvements of the PR, but I struggled more with the PR bosses overall.
And that’s why I wasted at least ten phoenix tails on Odin.
This is the week I finally turned on a boost in the PR, for job points only. I’m so sick of getting new classes and going “nope, not using those, they’re level one”.
So, uh, my WHM went from 60 to 99 in one play session.
Protect is good, but is such a high level spell I think I only got three casts of it.
Note: FF4 lets you cast weak spells from items infinitely. I mean weak. It isn’t like the first three where they are useful for much of the game. FF5 lets you cast from rods but they break after use, though they’re super strong (-aga level).
I just noticed that I forgot to mention that, in the 3D version, a unique weapon can be stolen from Odin, the boss in the Salionian underground maze. I added the details in the 週刊完璧主義通信 section of the top post.
Gotta catch’em all!
