A “frequent mistakes” box on the dashboard. Sort of like “recent mistakes”, but instead of the radicals, kanji, and vocab that I made a mistake on recently, let me review the items that I’ve gotten wrong the most amount of times (not sure if you’re even recording that now?).
I think this is potentially more useful than “recent mistakes” and “extra study”, both of which I mostly ignore because the SRS will sort those out overtime anyways. But there are a handful of radicals, kanji, and vocab that I just can’t seem to get right no matter how many times I see them. Those are the ones that I really need the extra review for.
These are generally referred to as “Leeches” There are some scripts which track your repeated errors, but I agree it would be more useful for me to see them on the dashboard than the ‘recent’ errors.
I think the “Critical Condition Items” section is sort of intended to capture these. I have no idea on the exact criteria for how items get on this list or how long they stay. It appears to be items for which the correct review percentage is below some threshold (75%)? I recall when searching for info some time ago seeing the description along the lines of a place tracking those items which you appear to be struggling with.
What do you think about an option to flag those troublesome items? Like, if we get something wrong, there could be a box we could check to flag that item with an “I am having particular difficulty with this!” Then it would go into a “trouble bin” we could easily access later on.
I’ve only been here a month, so I haven’t had any trouble yet. Though, I fear my time will soon come. But, I think something like that would be very useful. Right now I resort to looking through the entire list of prior levels to find the items I cannot easily identify. That will soon become incredibly cumbersome.
I, also, am unsure of what exact criteria puts an item into the critical condition area. But, if your problem points are not there, then I see where you are coming from.
Oh you’re right, that’s kind of the same thing. Although in my case, there’s only one thing showing under critical condition items, but I know there are a lot more items that I frequently get wrong. I think critical condition has some kind of recency attached to it. I was thinking of more like an all-time frequent mistakes. Or keep items on that list until I get them correct a bunch of times in a row or something.
Manual flagging could be useful too, but I really think it should be possible for the system to count automatically which items I keep getting wrong over and over again and show me those for review.
