So, I’d gotten I think almost to level 3 right when the radical relearning tool came out. So, thinking it made sense to go ahead and learn with the best habits, I checked the boxes and said “let’s relearn all these radicals” and all was well. When I revisit the “tools” page, it dutifully lists the 12 or so radicals I’d learned up to that point, and lists out their old meanings.
Fast forward to the last week or so. I’ve been wrestling through level 5 (my goodness the pace picks up past level 3 feels like) and every day or so, the banner announcing the radical relearning stuff pops up. I’ve tried dismissing it and clicking through to follow it, but the page still only lists the 12 or so radicals that have always been there.
The thing that has me a little suspicious, is that the tool seemed to make a lot of radicals tie in better with the kanji they most closely represented (naming the radical street instead of nail, or private instead of pile for example). Now in level 5, I’ve got an “ice” radical that’s super different than the “ice” kanji.
So, all that to say, I’m wondering two things. First, is that warning banner just kinda there forever now to remind me that in December of 2018 some radicals changed. Second, is it possible that since I reset and then set up to relearn radicals, that I’m not getting the “new” radicals?
