It’s trying to make the review system work with the way my brain works and how I perceive reward.
Committing to 30 or 40 reviews, and getting them done is a dopamine hit, and maybe I’ll even pick up another chunk after that.
Diving into 450 reviews and knowing I won’t finish feels like failure. It’s demotivating.
The fact that tools exist to allow that chunking means I must not be the only one who needs such a thing.
Noted! We have talked about something like this a decent amount internally over the years. With a dashboard full of optional widgets, something like this does become more likely. Just a different version of the reviews widget that maxes out at a certain number that you set.
I’m using a dashboard script (WK Dashboard Cockpit) that lets me see how many Apprentice 1, 2, 3 and 4, plus Guru 1 and 2, I have, not just the total number of Apprentice and Guru items. That’s not available in the current desktop as far as I know. I would love a widget in the new dashboard that lets me see a breakdown of my Apprentice and Guru items!
Really excited about the new dashboard, but I am going to miss my cockpit…

Maybe not as detailed as that script, but we have a widget in there that should cover a lot of that.
The old (current) version is also still going to be available as another item spread variation (that’s the one that doesn’t break down by apprentice I, II, III, and IV, but that one will also show burned items).
I don’t believe it does. I think that’s happening on the back end, but the output is just the divs in the order they are displayed, and each widget div has something that indicates its size (1/3, 1/2, 2/3, full width).
Similar with rows, looks like they’re just outputted in order.
After it goes live and we can get some feedback and see what people are trying to do maybe we can add something to help indicate place better (or maybe there is something in there and I’m missing it).
I’m thinking it’ll be easiest for scripters to just take up whole rows, though I’m not entirely sure on that.
It is! Much easier to cycle through right after a set of reviews.
are these stats things that are already being tracked or will they all start at zero?

let me know if I’m answering the wrong question, but all the stat things are backfilled and/or already being tracked. Nothing should start at zero unless it was actually at zero.
Excited about the update! Will the new widgets have a way to review leeches? Mine tend to be sneaky, and not all of them show up in the recent mistakes
No, unfortunately not. We do have some leech / study widgets “on the list” and some even spec’d out, but not in this group of launch widgets.

This would be REALLY appreciated!!! And while you’re at it, be nice to be able to add our own individual items to this leech widget as well, as in there’ll be items that won’t meet WK’s definition of a leech but we might want to add it anyway. 
Looking forward to the widget that just tracks how many times I’ve gambled between げつ and がつ and lost. After it hits 100 it generates a discount code for some froyo out of sheer pity and resets

Question about the heatmap and streak counter: Will it have the old data from before Oct 6th? And will it be possible to manually add review numbers (and time?) for e.g. some extra studies one did with e.g. the “Self-Study Quiz” script?
For context: I’m currently at a 643 days streak, and some days of that time have more reviews in my userscript heatmap than WaniKani had in due for me, because I did some extra reviews with the script “Self-Study Quiz”. Don’t want to lose all that info or streak.
