I’m currently at the 思い出 vocab lesson. One of the example sentences feels imperfectly translated:
元パートナーとの思い出に「さようなら」を言いたいと思います。
I’m going to say “goodbye” to memories with my former partner.
Should’t it be more along the lines of:
I think I would like to say ‘goodbye’ to the memories of my former partner
I mean, sure, the current translation grasps the crux of the idea just as well as my proposal, but the Japanese version has the 思います
in it, the notion of which went completely missing in the current translation and it took me a bunch of digging around to figure it out.
