Is it alright for me to join, even if I’m already near the end? I joined all the old ones back then too, but I had 2 burnt out since late 2020, and this third time is the time I could actually stick with it. Restarted this 3rd attempt on 2025-01-01.
If not thats fine too haha.

I aimed for Lv 45 at first too, but once I reached it, I was thinking “why not continue? I already paid lifetime too”.
Granted the time and mental energy would be better spent else where, like grammar or reading more, to get a more effective overall Japanese progress. But there’s something attractive about taking care of kanji first. It does give me peace of mind when I study grammar, there’s no unknown kanji to distract me.
Then once I manage to finish WK, I can just focus entirely on grammar and reading.

Ironically enough, I was level 21 this morning but leveled up to 22 just before joining!

I’d like to get most of the way through WaniKani by autumn 2027, but I don’t think it’ll be possible for me. I’ve been on here since January of 2025 and I level up about once a month (except the first two levels because they were really short). I started speeding up earlier this month, so even if I level up 25% faster from here on, I expect to be in the high 40s by Autumn of 2027.

Aim for level 30. The concensus is that’s the point of diminishing returns anyways.
Better to have something achievable you can work towards imho.

I’ll join this challenge! I’m pretty slow, averaging one level a month. If I’m really fast, maybe I can reach level 60 by the end of 2026, but realistically it’ll probably leach into 2027.

Joined! I joined the climb tokyo skytree thread back in 2020, but only reached lvl 24 (further than I remembered!). 5 years later I have picked up Japanese again and I can see myself doing it through this time

Lv 60! Finally I’m here! 
Starting out in late 2020, burning out, reset on 2023.01.01, then burnt out again taking ‘a little break’ on lv 10, and resumed on 2025.01.01, and finally finishing it all today.
My favourite number is 2, but maybe third time is the charm. Or burning out twice is the charm, eh? 
I will probably do a proper Lv 60 Post at some point, but right now I just really glad I could stick with Wanikani to the end 
. Doing a Lv 60 Post is just the dream I had 5 years ago. But now its finally here, I still can’t belive myself I actually have the discipline to do it.
Haven’t done any of the Lv 60’s lessons themself tho, just let me rest a bit hahahaha. Ahh doing the fast levels at almost max speed is really taxing on my mental focus.
I will go have this nice tea I saved up for this occasion
