Yea the shoe cream <=> choux creme example was pretty good. I occasionally forget that there are borrow words from other languages and try to just parse everything as English. And then getting really confused when whatever I used to fill the gap in meaning doesn’t fit the dialogue or whatever.
She’s right about read receipts being awful lol. Didn’t even realize line had no option to turn them off.
Episode 17. I liked that she put the focus on speaking and listening more so than on grammar and reading. There’s no new revolutionary method in there, just a good overview about what one should do. Now I just have to put it into practice…
Episode 18. Banger episode
Strong recommendation for anyone. Lots of useful for life vocab + culture insight. I learned many new words as well.
I will definitely listen to this one again.
Episode 19. A short one. Not much unknown information, but nice overall. New word 無難

Listened to 20 today: nothing much to say about it. I think the one I hear least is わたくし. I only hear it used ironically or in super cliché anime.
I can no longer post new entries since nobody posts anything and 3 consecutive posts are the limit, apparently.

Episode 21: nothing new in the conversations. My experience though is that they also shorten most of these phases. 温めますか、お袋は is mostly what I heard 
A few new words that I knew only from reading.
Episode 22: Good episode.
I don’t know if I am simply a little tired this morning or if it is one of the harder episodes. I had trouble following in some minor parts and had to look at the script.
I always plan around golden week if I go to Japan.
Episode 23. First I thought “what a boring topic”. And it’s true that it is not super exciting. But I have to say she packed a surprising amount of interesting vocab in this episode. Was a quick listen on the way to work this morning
Could use another combo breaker please.

Episode 24.
The episode beginning was a little boring wth her just counting of the counters. But the explanation for why rabbits are counted with 羽 was really great.
I also found the short quiz at the and a neat idea. You can check a little if you zoned out or listened correctly. But in this episode it was a little too easy and too slow I think. Not a bad idea overall.

Her voice is also very calming, so these are nice to play and relax with as well
I can follow along when I know the vocabulary, but in my case that means I often get thrown off. I’m getting adept at hitting rewind and jumping back and forth to jisho.org to look up what I’m not getting. Much easier to do with a podcast than a live person.
Nevertheless, it’s fun to listen to someone speaking naturally. The segments are short enough to maintain full concentration throughout, full of useful vocabulary, and interesting. I enjoy hearing her perspective.
The Youtube rolling transcriptions are more useful than I would have thought, but I wish there were whole transcriptions that stood still and that you could copy and paste from. Just out of curiosity, since I’m not on corporate social media, does she post transcriptions on Instagram or elsewhere?
The counter episode was amusing and reminded me of the odd expression “chicken of the sea”, which I believe was an advertising slogan to get people to eat tuna.
Episode 25: Another experimental episode. I don’t like the format. The pauses are way too short to form any kind of interesting answer. The topics also jump around way too much. I hope she doesn’t keep that format for any other episode.
Regarding transcripts, I don’t know if they can be found anywhere in written form. For the rare cases I have to look something up, the text in Spotify/YouTube + audio is more than enough for me to look it up. I’m sorry I can’t help you

Episode 26.
Good but short episode. You can hear in the begining how she struggles a little bit to use タメ口 until she finds her groove.
Again surprising amount of useful, not yet known words for me.(甘えん坊、やんちゃ、苦手意識)
I’m glad she didn’t continue with the format from the last episode.
Regarding content, I’m also the type that starts strong. And after 2-3 months my motivation often reaches a low point. Many people say by then you should have formed a habit, but honestly that doesn’t seem to make a difference to me…
Episode 27.
Tis was a harder episode again. It just has too much specialized vocab that I didn’t all know already.
Regarding the contents: as a German we are also very annoying with our waste management. So most of the rules are similar. Some details are different for sure and I feel like the japanese are more strict, but overall it feels familiar.
I would say that Germany is an 8 on the complexity scale and Japan is a 10 
Needing stickers for 粗大ごみ and binding books togheter is just not a thing here.
Episode 28. Finished with the last one for this week.
I do the same thing. Every time I travel, I also write postcards to family and friends. Getting reminded of what happens during the travels really is a good point of this habit. It’s also a pretty cheap “gift” for everyone without needing to actually being there in person to give it to.
Personally, I also really like receiving these cards from some friends.
A bad part of the currently super weak Yen will be that even fewer Japanese can afford to travel outside of Japan. It’s sad. Most Japanese already have too few experiences being in a foreign country, in my opinion. I feel like travel is one of the greatest experience one can have. It opens your eyes to different cultures, different foods, and the experiences stick with you for life.
So good for her that she could go on that trip, even if it was the first one in 5 years.
I’m kinda lucky by being German. We are well known for travelling a lot, which is helped by a combination of many vacation days and a (still) comparatively strong economy.
