Finished listening! It is quite relaxing to listen to and I don’t mind her pace at all. I did lose focus a bit cause of my cat but I’m looking forward to the rest of the podcast
(I ummm didn’t end up having jam I forgor, I had biscoff instead, I’ll get something with jam later today)
I feel like she talks faster now. I reduced to 1.1 speed for episode 5.
Yes, when she asked I directly thought of π-day. Very important day
I have no idea what was in that chocolade. Normally it’s impossible for it to go that bad since it’s mostly sugar…
New word 思春期 no idea how I didn’t encounter it before
Edit: episode 6 was a fast listen. We have some such “English words” as well in German. We use “handy” for a mobile phone, for example.
Episode 7 針葉樹 new word. It felt like this one had quite a few more advanced grammar patterns. The speed and rhythm is also nice now.
I would say my favorite episode so far.
Just caught up with last week’s episodes. Episode 7 was also my favorite thus far. I didn’t know that anti-hay fever glasses were a thing in Japan or that a hay fever severity rating was included in weather forecasts.
Looking forward to listening to this week’s batch of episodes with you all.
Did this week’s listening. All 3 are great episodes.
Nothing new in episode 8 but a solid reminder and words one definitely should know.
Episode 9 had the nice 初心忘るべからず which I didn’t know before + some generally solid advice. I know, since I’ve been on and off with Japanese over the years
EDIT: I thought it was episode 10 but turns out the Spotify episodes are out of order and I listened to 11
Episode 11 was a nice comparison, I’m over that period of my life, but I feel she made sure to highlight the main pros and cons of both options.
No significant new word this time around, except for the proverb listed above.
Just finished episode 6. I’m a little bit behind. I definitely feel like the speed picked up, but I can still understand >90% of what she’s saying. I was intrigued by the shoe cream in the title.
I’m a little early, but thought I post already anyway to not forget what I wanted to say about the episodes.
Episode 12 was a quick, but I think boring episode. Hopefully the others this week are stronger episodes again
EDIT: I just realized the episodes in Spotify were out of order. So I listened to episode 10 this week
Episode 10 new words 魔除け, 吸い物, foods and the doll names. I know of the holiday and have seen pictures of the dolls but didn’t know much about it. Interesting episode for me.
I noticed a lot of slurred words in episode 9, which made it ten times harder to understand. Her けいけん sounded like ケーキ. I do tend to struggle with slurred speech regardless of which language it is.
I’m also listening on Spotify, so I’ll have to make sure to not accidentally skip episode 10 tomorrow.
Episode 14:
I can relate so well. I was a few months In Tokyo and was commuting to a language school. The trains in the morning were mental. I saw some smaller japanese people who didn’t even have contact with the ground anymore. They were just floating in the crowd.
I found it a little funny. Since I’m a little taller than the average japanese person. I had the best air end could observe the absurdity from above
Edit:
Episode 15:
Everybody needs a Sakura episode. Nothing new. レジャーシート was a new word for me though. Typical waseiego
And done with episode 16
The first thing that popped into my mind when I heard the topic were the traditional style toilets. I was quite surprised she started with the modern type. Some useful vocab in this episode for sure.
Btw, are all the other jam enjoyers switching to honey? Or why am I the only poster now
