I’m so happy to organize this! I will close the poll on Friday, July 11th for final scheduling decisions as that will give us enough time to order books for even the earliest schedule start times. I actually have mine coming in the mail this week, pretty excited.
Thank you for setting this up, I actually started reading this book as part of my own studies so I was very happy to see a repeat club.
I don’t want to be a pain but for my own goals, I’ll be continuing to read from now, I will still be active in the club but I won’t post any spoilers.
It would be nice to see if I am translating it correctly so would love to compare with others.

I will do my best. This will be the first full book I have read, not counting graded readers. I am working through the Anki deck at the same time and trying to translate in my mind before checking what it’s supposed to mean. I don’t know why I’m so nervous hahah
After a bit of deep-diving, it looks like a lot of vocab lists for book clubs have been on JPDB rather than Anki, and there is in fact a deck for this book already there:
I haven’t really used this site but my future reads have decks there too so I think I’m going to use this deck so it’s all in one place

Hey, I just started reading it myself but won’t be able to keep up probably, however I will probably have a head start and would like to at least participate in the discussions regarding the parts that I’ve read so far. Would that be ok?
Also, I feel like I’m way too granular and constantly keep checking whether my interpretations are right through dictionary and grammar websites. Do y’all just read through it based on vibes that you’re probably right and am I just an anxious mess afraid of doing things wrong? Or do I need to up my skills and delve a bit more into vocab and grammar before doing this? I feel like 90% of my guesses are right, I just don’t have the confidence yet 
Yeah that’s normal, as you read more and more you’ll build confidence and feel more comfortable trusting your gut.
That’s good to know, maybe I could learn to use the dictionary for only 80% of the words I already know instead of 90% of them. 
One trick that sometimes helps me when I feel like maybe in going too fast or not understanding well enough is to ask myself “if somebody asked me to summarize what I just read, could I do it?”
If the answer is yes then you’re probably fine.
yes for sure! i make my husband listen to me ramble about everything I read, which usually amounts to a few minutes fumbling my words for like 1 chapter of info so it cant be that interesting for him 
but if you can find someone to listen to super helps!
You may already be doing this (and it can be boring) but genuinely what’s helped me is prelearning chapter words. It’s not fun to flashcard but I find it makes the actual act of reading so much smoother and less fruatrating.
If pre-learning grammar sounds useful, I can make grammar and vocab lists used in each chapter in the chapter threads?

I haven’t tried this yet, but I am a BunPro lifetime member, and they do have specific anime and book vocabulary sets, so I’ll have a look if they have this book, or if not, I might in the future get one of the books that have the vocab list on BunPro.
