Discussion Guidelines
Spoiler Courtesy
Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.
Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
Any information from later in the book than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags
Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).
Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:
Example
This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.
The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.

Posting Advice
When asking for help, please mention the page number, and check before posting that your question hasn’t already been asked. As the threads get longer, it becomes more convenient to use the Search function, which is located in the upper right corner of the forum. It is the magnifying glass which is near your profile picture! The best way to search is usually to type part of the sentence you are confused about, and select “in this topic”. This will show you all posts within the current thread which has that string of text.
Be sure to join the conversation! It’s fun, and it’s what keeps these book clubs lively! There’s no such thing as a stupid question! We are all learning here, and if the question has crossed your mind, there’s a very good chance it has crossed somebody else’s also! Asking and answering questions is a great learning opportunity for everyone involved, so never hesitate to do so!

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to be running this club and reading Silver Spoon with everyone!
There’s plenty of time to figure out the schedule and all that, but here’s the chapter + page count:
Ch 1: 36 pgs
Ch 2: 20 pgs
Ch 3: 19 pgs
Ch 4: 23 pgs
Ch 5: 18 pgs
Ch 6: 22 pgs
Ch 7: 20 pgs
Ch 8: 17 pgs
omake: 6 pgs (handwritten font)
It’s been a while since I’ve been on the forums so I’m not sure what the standard pace has been for IMC. If we do a chapter a week I’m thinking we should break Ch 1 in half (~18 pgs each)
I’m really excited about this one, I’ve been really sold on it since you’ve made the nomination post!
And happy to see you around too @meagstudies
Yes it seems like a good idea to split the first chapter in two.
I’ve skimmed chapter 2, there’s some text and sometimes it’s dense but that’s far from being all the time (looking at you Bocchi), I would compare it maybe to Dungeon Meshi, so I think it’s fine to do one chapter per week from chapter 2. And the omake together with chapter 8, so that would be a 9 weeks schedule!
I’ve created a tenative schedule up at the top. If we split the first chapter and otherwise do one chapter a week, we’ll go for 9 weeks (May 17 is the last week).
Not sure where to split chapter 1. Skimming through, page 18 seems like a good stopping place storywise, but it leaves it a bit lopsided (12 pages vs 22). Any thoughts?
Also I was going to link to Tofugu’s article on the Hokkaido dialect in case we come across it, but it looks like it’s been deleted?? Does anyone know why?
The schedule looks good to me!
I have no idea why the page disappears, maybe the author left Tofugu and didn’t want the article to be visible anymore?
Here’s an archived version I was able to find

Good start, I already had a good laugh at the first page @meagstudies are you ready to kick off the club? If yes you can create the thread for Week 1 and announce in the IMC that it’s starting!
