少女終末旅行 Home Thread (Beginner Book Club)

Oh, no. :confounded:

What’s the point in the spoiler tag if you’re just gonna read them anyway? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well it took me almost a week to get through Chapter 2 and have a coherent understanding of it, but I read most of Chapter 3 last night and it’s very easy. Too bad I was a day early. Bring on the thread!

Since you asked so nicely.

Personally I enjoyed reading the first volume of this series quite a bit despite having to look up a lot of vocab and grammar on almost every page. At the end of chapter 8 there was some discussion about the possibility of continuing to read the rest of the series.

I’d gladly help set up threads for the next chapters if there’s enough interest in continuing reading this series together.

(Note: If someone else was already planning to do this please go ahead as I’m completely inexperienced.)

  • Interested in continuing
  • Not interested

As far as I understand these spin-off book clubs for specific series tend to have less strict schedules. Personally I am still aiming to do one chapter per week, but I guess we could figure out some loose schedule?

Still, it’d be interesting to have most of those interested to start at around the same time with the next volume. For those that are interested in continuing, when would you like to start with volume 2?

  • Right away!
  • Next week
  • Two weeks
  • Need more time to get my copy of volume 2

For those that need more time, please give us an estimate.

If you’ll all put up with more of my questions and help me along I’d love to keep reading. I have all the volumes and would love to finish them. I’m still not done yet with Ch 8 though

Also since, I’m slow and not the expert sempai that you folks are so I can’t do both this and the other next beginner book at the same time.

I’m vaguely interested. Part of that might just be that I want to have someone I can talk with about the ending. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m also vaguely interested. I do not have the next volume, but if people start reading, I might pick it up.

(There’s a lot of inertia involved; it takes 20 min to go to the nearest book-off, and yet I haven’t found the time/will to go buy the volume of Aria we are currently reading. So no promises)

I’m guess it’s way too late to get in on this? Also, hello, I’m new here.

Well, not exactly. If you post a question in each chapter’s respective thread, someone is bound to answer.
It’s not the same as reading along with everyone, but it’s better than nothing.

If you make it to the end of the first book quickly enough, you may catch up with people discussing the second book - if people do carry on to the next book.

Thanks. Honestly tho, I’m only just starting and have learned the kana, so I don’t think I can even follow along yet, at all.

That would be quite tough, I guess. An understanding of the basic grammar concepts is probably necessary to get you anywhere at all. Although there is an extensive vocab sheet, which probably helps a lot, so you can always give it a try whenever you feel like.

And feel free to ask questions in the threads any time in the future; usually there are still a few people around who will notice it and get back to you.

There’s an “absolute beginner” book club as well, by the way. You could also try to see what they are reading

Thank you. I checked it out but I think I should probably actually go through grammar and at least learn all the radicals or something like that. Either way, thank you both for help!

The Yotsuba and Aria book clubs still have strict weekly schedules per chapter. It’s just that sometimes there’s a larger break between volumes. You don’t have to do it that way obviously. I just wanted to make sure you had all the information.

I see that we have 9 people interested in continuing (well, I guess 10 since @Kazzeon voted in the timing poll, hopefully meaning there’s interest in reading with us  )

It seems we will have almost everyone ready for reading if we start in two weeks, so I would be creating the thread for chapter 9 the night of May 10th (or morning of May 11th, depending on your time zone).

We have a total of 39 chapters left in the series after the 8 we read in volume 1. I propose we go with the normal pace of a chapter per week. Is that alright with everyone?

@seanblue: do you mind if we keep using the same Google Worksheet for the vocab? I am not sure if there’s any advantage to have them separate by volume…

I don’t care one way or the other. Feel free to keep using it if that’s what everyone wants to do.

I’m still on Ch8  haha… slow going with work these few weeks… I will eventually read them, but keeping up with the chapter a week (at the moment) won’t be possible. But don’t let that stop anyone…I’m still getting lost every other page
