Just for information, work has been intense this week and I’m currently out of town. So the next topic will only be posted tomorrow afternoon (Paris time).
Phew ! There we go ! 午后のあくび / Afternoon Yawnings - BBC Book Club - Week 7
Almost done ! Time for the penultimate week ! 午后のあくび / Afternoon Yawnings - BBC Book Club - Week 8
You-all were almost done when I got this book. It is the first “book” I have tried to read. I am very, very, very slow and I don’t know all the kanji and even the kanji I do know are often used in ways I am not familiar with, but I think I could have kept up if I had had the book at the beginning. Cute stories.
Happy the book was you first attempt at reading in japanese ! Don’t hesitate to come back to it later in your journey, it would be a nice way to see your progress.
I created the thread for the final week 午后のあくび / Afternoon Yawnings - BBC Book Club - Week 9 (final week)
Thank you to everyone who participated, and sorry I couldn’t be more active. Between the time I suggested the book and the time the book club start, things changed a bit.
In retrospect, while the small, independent stories format of the book is convenient for learners, it doesn’t make for a very intense book club discussion, as there is no real plot to follow and comment (compared with something like the Sakura book club).
I hope everyone enjoyed the cosy vibe of this ![]()
thanks for picking the book! I never would’ve heard of it, and really enjoyed reading it ![]()
