Laughed way too hard at かうふぁーむ and かうべる

This chapter kinda reminded me of that cow adventure time episode for obvious reasons. That ending tho.

Not sure if this is read 本日 休業 or 日業 本休? :sweat_smile: While typing it I realize that only the first one makes sense, but it threw me off a bit while reading, also because 本日 is not a familiar word for me, unlike 日本

The characters are also close vertically, while there is a much bigger gap horizontally, so yeah, it’s pretty confusing. I guess the farm name being left-to-right might be a good indicator though.

That ending… I got more questions than have been answered up until now this chapter.
To name a few: why did the cow follow them? What kind of “thing” is かうべる? What kind of switch was Isaac looking for?
But most importantly: Why do most animals in this world have a human-like appearance (e.g. standing on two legs), but the stories about the “human ancient time” make believe that things were normal back then?

I don’t expect an answer since I suppose it will be answered at some point. Just cannot wait for it to be answered :slight_smile:

かうふぁーむ = Cow farm?
かうべる=Cow bell? Because (s)he puts a basket on the head that looks like a bell?

Yes, Cow Farm. As far as Cowbell goes, that’s the name, but a cowbell is also just a normal thing for free-roaming livestock to help track them down. Or well, it was in the days before tagging and such became widespread. I imagine it still sees some use, but none of my neighbors back where I grew up used cowbells anymore last time I went back to visit.

Nowadays, cowbell has a bit more of an association with SNL. :joy:

I think it is an actual bell (not a basket), like one of those traditional Swiss cow bells. It’s also constantly making a loud カラーん noise :smile:

All those panels with the cow just standing there were great :joy:

Edit: Oh, and apparently シチュウ refers to a stew with a creamy sauce? Image search

Me looking back to this panel after the end of the chapter :skull_and_crossbones: yikes.

But yeah, feeling the same as @marciska , so many unanswered questions… really curious why the cow was following them (I wonder if it will ever be brought up again - as for Isaac, I can imagine we will see him again though)

Struggling with this sentence a bit, I can’t quite figure out what it means. Can somebody break it down for me?
にこ牧と同じくらいいい牛だ

I hope we will get some more answers and not only dark endings :smiley: (also referring to the earlier chapter with the husband) I really like Rojika and Rakkasei and their interactions, but I wish they’d be a bit more curious and question more things haha.

I read it as:
にこ牧 = name of other farm (see p. 93) - shortened like the note says - which is a great touch because adding the note just adds more text than was saved :joy: - “the smiling pasture” or something like that
と同じ = same as
くらい = approximately
いい牛だ = it’s a good cow

So loosely translated something like “he seems a good cow like the cows at nikoniko”

Aahh thank you, I didn’t realize it’s the name of the other farm!

No problem, I thought that might have been it :slightly_smiling_face:

I found this chapter to be quite heavy on the abbreviations and slurred speech, so I also found it quite tricky in places.

Ahahaha honestly that ending made me laugh XD pretty dark but I admit I enjoy dark humour lol.

Though these past 2 chapters made me wonder about some of the lore behind the world, what kind of future they’re living in and the events that led up to it.

Everything about this chapter gave me the creeps :grimacing:. I feel like we’re going to revisit this story in the future and the reveal is going to be super fucked up with more background information.

I was pretty surprised by what the cows looked like, but I thought they were really cute in a doofy sort of way. And I thought cow 2556 was spooky but cute too!

So the ending made me feel so sad. It was probably cow 2556, right? :sob: And poor Rakkasei doesn’t even know…
