Welcome to the ルリドラゴン ・ Ruri Dragon Volume 2 offshoot book club! :dragon_face:

We’ve read volume 1 as part of the Absolute Beginner Book Club over here. Lots of people were interested in an offshoot book club, but there was nothing more to read at the time: The author was ill and it was unclear when they would be able to start writing again.

A few months ago we got the good news that the author is publishing again, and a few weeks ago that the second volume will be out on September 4th!

This will be an offshoot club to read this second volume. There’s mainly two things that will be different:

  • Everything will happen in this thread. I’ll make a post when we start a new week.
  • We’ll be reading quicker, especially considering that it has been over a year since reading volume 1 - I assume y’all have gotten a fair bit of reading experience in the meanwhile, right? (Right?) There’ll be a poll for this though.

Since I cannot check the manga yet it’s a bit hard to properly make a schedule, but we can already get a rough overview over what the expectations are like.

What’s the fastest you could read with the club?

I am expecting to mostly read a chapter per week, which (apart from chapter 1) was 17-21 pages with text in volume 1, but let’s see what the actual chapter lengths are like when the volume comes out.

No clue when I’ll get my physical copy tbh. Going to assume 2-3 weeks since that’s what manga republic says. Voting 3 weeks for now.

Well as Ruri was my first book club, it will be really interesting to come back to it a year and a half later! The voiced version was so nice though, I will miss it

I preordered it at Manga Republic pretty much when they sent out the mail that it will get released but as for when it’ll actually be here… yeah, no idea, sorry :see_no_evil: :sweat_smile: :see_no_evil:

anyways I’m really excited to join this book club :blush:

Just pre-ordered my copy from Manga Republic! I’m not sure what the shipping time will be, so not sure how to vote on that …

I think I’ll try to reread volume 1 before we start, though! Anyone else?

Thank you for the ping!! I pre-ordered the digital version earlier this month, and I am so excited to revisit Ruri again. Maybe I should page through the first volume again, just to re-familiarize myself with it…

I won’t re-read it because I rewatched the video recently, it doesn’t cover the whole book but a lot of it, can recommend to freshen the story up!
