Fun chapter. Somehow I was expecting that the elf would have a darker role in the king’s life.
But now everybody is still hungry, for once Senshi didn’t even save the day.

Yeah this chapter was light on food stuff, but I enjoyed how the author managed to weave what is effectively a lore dump into something that’s still completely food related instead of just having an unrelated flashback.

Only chapter 14 (and the omake) left in this volume after this one.
Time to decide what we want to do next:
- I want to continue with volume 3 immediately after we’re done with this one
- I want to continue with volume 3 after a one week break
- I want to continue with volume 3 after a longer break
- I want to continue with volume 3 and I don’t really care if we have a break or not
- I don’t intend to continue this book club/I may continue but much later

Volume 3 is 110 yen on Bookwalker until Jan 9. (Latter volumes starting 341 yen with coin up until Jan 6.)
The price was the deciding factor whether I’ll continue with series or not, but this volume is nice

Some verbs are made by attaching just ～る, like ROMる or キョドる. There are probably a few others, but I can’t recall on the spot…

Fun chapter. The cooking was a bit primitive but a lot of amusing character interactions. And as always a lot of creativity when it comes to the way the various species of monsters interact in the ecosystem.

I feel like I ran across a fair amount of kanji-for-stuff-I-normally-see-in-kana in this book

Yeah it’s fairly kanji-heavy for the genre. I generally don’t mind given that kanji is my strongest (or least weak) suit and it makes lookups less ambiguous.
