Personally, I’ve been waiting to hear @soggyboy’s comments on this specific chapter. 
I noticed you on your read through picking up on all of Marcille’s different hairdos, but I hadn’t noticed that at all on my own reading, so the revelation here of what the demon took from didn’t really have the full impact for me, I suspect.
I never quite cared for the “large scale” stuff in this manga, I think it’s at its best when it’s focusing on the core party solving problems together. I don’t need or want a “grand finale”. I would have been fine if the team just walked into the sunset towards new adventures. Regarding last week’s chapter, I always found that Izutsumi was an unnecessary addition to the cast, and I wish we spent more time with Senshi and Chilchak instead. Those have been relegated to the rank of glorified extras over the course of the last few volumes.
I also don’t like the conclusion of the Winged Lion storyline. I was hoping for something a bit more shades-of-grey. I still haven’t fully digested the idea that Marcille was shown to be deluded for wanting people to live longer lives. I always associate these lazy morals with social conservatism: the natural order is good, so if the natural order leads to bad outcomes or inequality it doesn’t matter because it must all be good in the end. The elves are going to live for hundreds of years and Chilchak is going to be dead within a decade and that’s just how it’s supposed to be. Bleh.
I think this is an issue I have with a lot of fantasy works: the author wants to discuss life and death with us, the readers, in the real world. We don’t have dungeons and magic and we need to learn to accept death. So she has the characters have an arc where they can explore these themes. But within the world she’s created, there’s absolutely no reason for the characters to accept this, and that creates a strange dissonance for me.
I think it’s cool that the author decided to wrap this in a reasonable amount of volumes, and tried to tackle these complex topics along the way, even if I don’t think she was always completely successful.
Anyway, maybe the last two chapters will change my mind, we’ll see…

I do wonder if like, since longer lives were brought by the power of the winged lion, now that the winged lion is gone, will people’s lifespans gradually change?
Yeah I see where you’re coming from. This manga does end a bit with almost a ‘return to the status quo’ and we don’t get to see if any big changes happened in the world based on what the adventurers did.

Re:what I was saying about the lifespans, I do think this is a decent clue that maybe lifespans will change and magic will leave or change in some way, it’s just not an all at once thing or in the control of the characters.
I also support learning a new language to give life meaning

Except I do think that her new unkempt appearance goes well with her character arc where she became less uptight Naturally, Marcille looks cute no matter the hairstyle.

I’m trying to figure out if Marcille being taken by the elves being referred to as “going into the West” is a LOTR reference.
I noticed the single ribbon so I flipped around a few pages, thinking maybe the ribbon had come from her clothes or something? The ribbon looks similar to the one tying her cloak, but I couldn’t find another ribbon that seemed obvious.
Hmmmm, the elves do come on a ship and they’re the western elves…maybe just loosely a lotr reference? I kinda get my directions confused anyways and think 西 is east like 50% of the time so I didn’t think about it
Yeah, I did too, but also didn’t spot anything besides the one on her cloak. I briefly thought maybe they’d used her choker, but she’s still wearing it after, so…

Love the cover. Simple, but somehow soft. I keep returning to it when opening the manga to read another chunk.
