Hello! Some of you may remember, I wrote a silly short story nearly a year ago to practice the few grammar points and vocabulary that I knew at the time. As I am too lazy to write out a full study log, I thought I would make this a yearly thing to show my progress instead! (I was going to wait until Feb next year, but this idea made me excited so I thought I would move it to Dec haha)
Here y’all go! Enjoy trying to guess what I meant in some places lol 
第一章 悪い店員 二千二十五年、二月
店員は大声で「えびが欲しいですか」と女の人に聞く。
女の人は焦り、そして彼女は不問に付する。
店員は大声で「えびを取れ」と言う。
女は速く走るが、店員も走る。えびの追いは始まる。
第二章 無事じゃないか？ 二千二十五年、十二月
女は家に帰った時、すぐにドアに鍵をかけた。やっと、「無事だ」と思った。でも、何かがおかしかった。「無事じゃないか？」
黒い部屋から、小さな声で「えびが欲しくなろ」と言ってくれた。
「だれがそこにいるの？」と言った。だれも答えなかった。警察に電話しようとしたが、電波がなかった。
何が起きているのだろうと思った。

何かは変そうだったよ →何かがおかしかった The initial was too conversational for a narration.
何をしているんかと思った→何が起きているのだろうと思った This suggestion was made to accomplish the same thing but more naturally.
Weak points:
- やって instead of やっと, 速く instead of すぐに. The first one was a mix up, the second was a word misuse.
- Transitive vs intransitive. (i.e. 続ける＆続く where it’s not entirely obvious to me which is which on the spot.)
- Spelling, I made a few dumb mistakes and forgot 帰る was an う verb.
- I cheated at one point… I forgot the kanji for 黒い but I knew I knew it so I got annoyed lol
- Still struggle to gauge how little information is too little and how much is too much.
- Still have limited vocab recall. The last years practice has been very recognition heavy so my recall isn’t as good I wish it was. (I think Ill keep focusing on it though, I still think understanding is better than speaking at the moment)
- Questions within a statement - I forget to use か within statements when something is being questioned but still isn’t the main statement… does that make sense?
- A few verbs that didn’t need to be there and a few verbs that should’ve been
Overall- I’m happy with where I’ve gotten
