Don’t forget to set this thread to Watching in order to be notified when a new week’s discussion is starting!

So, I had to reread the last chapter of volume 4

Our heroes are under interrogation of the newfound survivors. They tell them that Saya is 大技連の残党だ。大技連 (大都市技術連盟) are that people (?) that had built this city and were the main reason for the invasion of 断罪者. And Saya is 人格データを移し替える容れ物.

I think I understood the plot better this time!

Also, thanks @Gorbit99 for creating a vocab sheet for this volume too! I use them from time to time, especially if there are a lot of new words and I can’t keep them all in my mind simultaneously.

Chapter 33

Aww, little Saya! For some reason I assumed she would be born as a grown woman :joy:

Chapter 34

Little Saya is too cute.

Given that the survivor lady and the battle android from the previous volume seemed surprised by Saya’s stated goal of cremating all the remains, I doubt that was the original plan for the 永遠の子; I think the android here and the creator lady of the 永遠の子 (whose face was conveniently obscured, but I bet she looks a lot like Saya) were going against the organization that caused the apocalypse. Since Saya is the only 永遠の子 I don’t know if something went wrong with the creation or if they intentionally sabotaged the experiment (killing the uploaded versions of all the organization people in the process?) Maybe they wanted a fresh start after the organization caused the calamity, and they didn’t want to be a part of whatever the organization’s plans were (which seem possibly genocidal).

Yay, I’m caught up!

You’d never guess what week we are in now!

yes, yes it’s week 2

I only didn’t announce week 3 on Saturday to keep you on your toes. I didn’t forget about it at all. Nuh-uh!

Oh hey, it’s week… week… what was it again? Shoot…

Ah right, week 4!

Ch 36

Saya’s background story was interesting even if nothing particularly surprising surfaced from it. It was an interesting choice that her trial-run mission was to pick up her own mother’s corpse.

Sadly still not much about how the world ended up like how it is or what originated the disaster.

Chapter 35

Didn’t learn much this chapter except that ナニイ suspiciously deactivated herself and deleted all the data. Certainly goes along with the origins of the 永遠の子 being suspicious.

Chapter 36

Ok, so pretty much right! Although I was expecting the creator to have more animosity towards the federation. We still haven’t heard too much about them. Seems like she just gave Saya her mission so that Saya would have something to live for and work towards- feels like we’re working towards a conclusion of ‘let’s build a new life in the apocalypse with the friends we made along the way’
