Volume 2 is quite a bit denser in terms of text than volume 1 was, so I decided to have week 1 as a sort of “trial week”. Depending on how this goes, I’ll subdivide the rest of the book.
I’d say that the rest of the book is decently similar in text density, so let’s just do that, but if someone feels like they are struggling at some point, please voice your issue and I’ll readjust on the fly. (No need to stick to a particularly strict schedule thankfully).
This does mean that this book club should be fairly short comparatively though.
I was busy last week, so I only just finished chapter 9. One chapter a week is fine for me too, though.
Chapter 9
Nice to read this again. Quite the soul-searching chapter.
I like how all the robots in this manga are given quite a lot of personality in subtle ways like the way they speak and how they move through the world.
I also really like the little details like the little guy wiping himself dry:
I wasn´t expecting us to get more humans this soon, even if they also are 人造人間. I guess I was expecting her going around the wasteland more but it’s true that the world is mostly set up, so might as well move forward with the story. I am definitely interested in the library clerk saga
But they are not 人造人間? She was talking about herself when this word was mentioned.
Their mothers (plural I guess) were infected when they were in the womb, so they turned out that way. At least that’s what I understood from their dialog.
I am also enjoying the pace, since (for me?) it’s more about enjoying these post-apocalyptic landscapes / situations rather than the overarching plot, so I’m not in a hurry to find out what happens next.
Is he saying that it’s been 2,236 days since Saya came to the library?
Chapter finished. Hooray, a new mission! Seems like if these born-from-infected-people guys are resistant to the disease then there’s hope for creating a new society. Although I suppose there’s still the problem of the monsters..
