Spoiler Courtesy

Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.

  1. Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.

Chapter 5

After a few more fights, and after secretly observing how a bunch of fake (?) policemen cleaned the street from corpses by putting them into bags and throwing them into the bushes (to be later collected when it’s dark, or so our protag assumes), we meet again with our friendly benefactor 響陣. The three actually form a group and discuss the mode of operation. Futaba asks for not killing anybody going forward, which I think is a surprising idea for everybody (and as we know now, is not the plan of the organizers). But it was not mentioned in the rules of the game what will happen to somebody who loses their tag, so they are willing to try it out and to see. The plan going forward is to collect as many tags as possible by simply stealing them without killing the owner, and then once they cannot make more tags, give them all to one of them and send this person to Tokyo alone, to participate in the end-game. (We can safely assume this will be our protag, because that’s how the book seems to be set up, but what happens until then is of course to be seen).
After having set up the contract so far, they start exchanging all they know about the other participants in order to prepare in the best way possible for the next steps. We learn about four people that 響陣 encountered, and next up we will hear the report of 愁二郎 and Futaba.

Finally found time to finish this section as well.
By the way, I enjoy your story summaries very much. Keep them coming.

The only thing noteworthy that you left out is that they found another guy (菊臣右京) that helped Futaba when she was attacked. Lucky her. I honestly found his reason for helping kinda funny. He was annoyed at the 2 on 1 fight and seems to be a man who values proper 1 on 1 fighting etiquette XD.

I found it funny that know all of them already. We encountered all of them except for the 義弟 and have only heard about 無骨. And then he throws the curveball and names our protagonist as the 5th notable one XD.
