Spoiler Courtesy

And I finished the first chapter.
I have to take back that I don’t have too look up more words than in the other books. I did feel a significant difference this week, for sure. On the other hand I felt like I can handle the shorter sentences much better now. Maybe it was also because in this week there was more action and I feel like the shorter sentences fit better there :person_shrugging:.

Thoughts

Interesting touch to give his other self 聲 while 声 is used for him. Him also constantly saying he is only up to 50% of his strength is also connected. Let’s see how this other self comes into play in the future.

We start to get some of his backstory. He is in it to safe his wife and child. Futaba is in it to safe her mother. Both because of them being sick and needing money. Interesting origin on why they call it ころり.
Honestly the time period sounds horrible to live in. It starts with huge cultural and sociatal changes because of the meiji restoration and on top of that you get a colera outbreak that affects roughly a fifth of the populus. Then you put crazy inflation on all of that. Nice…

@Escalus I also watched a few episodes of the series. At the end of the first chapter futaba and shuujiro are together at the inn sleeping. I think that’s somewhere in episode 2? It’s interesting that the storyline you put in spoilers in last week is completely absent in the book for now. Let’s see if it even gets mentioned in the first book.

Haven’t watched the anime, but this is probably because these are provided by the inn :rofl:
