For those reading the magazine chapters, this is よつばとてっぺん part 1 only.

I found the river section of the path. And the stairs. I can’t find the source of the river, though, so no Nobel prize for me, I guess.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Question

I am as lost as Yanda about what Yotsuba means with おっとこぬし… any thoughts?

Ah, I meant to look into this, but I forgot until you reminded me. Google tells me 乙事主おっことぬし (note the kana transposition) is the name of the boar god from the climax of もののけ姫. I’d imagine that’s it, but I’m mildly surprised she’s watched that at the age of five.

Ch 110 question

So after Yanda teases Yotsuba about the size of the onigiri, there’s this panel.

I’m not sure what Yanda means with ばーちゃんにだめって言わないでね. No matter how I look at it, it seems to mean “Don’t tell Baa-chan ‘dame’”, but I have no idea how that fits in the context.

For the magazine chapters, this is よつばとてっぺん part 2.

Just realised we were at the halfway mark through the book after last week’s reading. So fast…

Here’s my view of Fuji-san from the summit of Takao-san:

富士山だ!

Oh, they’re coming down path 4, same as me. Lemme see if I took any good comparison shots.

(Albeit from the other direction)

(Huh, more of the sign is missing in the manga version.)

(The only suspension bridge on Takao-san)

Page 171

(One thing I found clever about this chairlift is that you board and disembard on moving walkways - rather than boarding by standing still and waiting for the chair to smack you in the back of the knees, or disembarking by jumping off and trying to run out of the way, you just stand on footprint markers on the walkway, which moves you along while the chair swings into place behind you, and similary for disembarking.)

Page 174

(As previously mentioned, we rode up the chairlift rather than down so our photos are backwards, but you get the idea.)

Well, you’ve got three to four years until the next one comes out. But at least try to start before we finish. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty sure it’s a callback to last chapter - Yanda can only visit Grandma’s house if Yotsuba says he can, so if Yotsuba tells Grandma he was making fun of her onigiri…

@Belthazar Very cool seeing your matching photos!

I have caught up for the Takao-san part, but I have a couple of questions going back to chapter 108. Any help would be appreciated.

Chapter 108

I think this is page 91. Totuba says “よつばくらいこどもいる”. Then there’s some shouting in the next panel (from those kids?). Then Yanda says:
“ああいうダダこねる子と比べたらはしっかりしてんな”
It seems ダダこねる meanings throwing a tantrum. So Yanda is comparing Yotuba to a child throwing a tantrum. I’m confused about しっかり; I’m assuming not “right” here. Is it something like reliable? Google translate suggests “mature”, but I don’t see that in the dictionaries I checked.

Then he continues:
“俺はダダ側だったけど”
“But I’m on the side of a tantrum”? He’d rather have Yotsuba throw tantrums?

Chapter 110

Page 155, after Yanda has teased Yotsuba about his big Onigiri and she starts crying. Dad glares at Yanda, and it seems like he should be saying that the size of an onigiri doesn’t matter, but it seems like he says the opposite:
“おにぎりの大きさはとても大切なこと…”
And the next balloon I’m baffled by:
“俺は覚えていたつもりだったか”
I planned to remember but
“忘れていたようだ”
it seems like I forgot.

Ch. 111

By any chance, does anyone have any idea in which magazine issue the final chapter よつばとせんせい appears? I was using the wikipedia article that lists Yotsuba chapters, but it only goes as far as よつばとしゅみ …

The previews of the Dengeki Daioh magazine in Amazon and Bookwalker don’t include the table of contents either (まじかよ!)

Page 185 et al, I’m fairly sure I’ve seen the exact images that they’re looking at on the iPad before, but I’m having trouble finding them now. That said, I suspect they’re Namaqua rain frogs or similar.

Page 102

The 秘境駅 that Fuuka is dreaming about on the chapter’s final page is probably Shimonada Station.

Yep. Reliable, dependable. Also, しっかり者 = person of firm character

I’d say it’s more like in comparison to Yotsuba, Yanda is more likely to be the one to throw a tantrum. A rare moment of self-awareness there.

I feel like what he’s saying is that he’d forgotten that onigiri size is important to Yotsuba.

Ditto. And that list really needs updating…

One almost wonders if perhaps it’s a tankobon exclusive chapter, though I’ve honestly got no evidence to back me up on this.
