I understand your confusion:
行ってきます as a stand alone sentence is the one you already know, meaning: “I’m off now, see you later”. It’s not a literal translation at all.
You see, the expression grammatically originates from 行ってくる, meaning: to go and come (back)
Now, you were pretty close: 持って行ってくる means “I take the letter over”, where 持つ means “to carry”. The reason why she says that instead of “持って行く” (to take something with you) is that she hasn’t planed on going there anyway and just takes the letter with her. So, she goes there just to hand the letter over, thus she will come back (rather soon).
That’s how I would go about it. In the end, it’s more about the feeling for a language, and what is common to say.
Addition:
取って来る is the opposite of 持って行く, meaning “to fetch something/ to bring something here”.
So you could say「取りに行って来る」which I would translate to “Go and fetch something and bring it back”.

Page 131 - What is going on in the top panel? Maybe it’s because I can’t tell who’s saying what, but I can’t quite piece it together from context. I’m not sure if this is really a spoiler or not, but I’ll make it a spoiler just in case.
On the previous page, I got that Jumbo’s basically accusing Yotsuba’s dad of doing something inappropriate with underage Fuuka. Then they start yelling at each other (or Jumbo’s yelling at the dad?) in the top panel on pg 131. The text I don’t get is:
ズポンはいてんだ？！
カッコつけてんじゃねえ！！
ズポンくらいはかせろ！！
I have a feeling that my grammar is failing me. It seems like Jumbo might be telling Yotsuba’s dad to put some pants on, but…he already did that a few pages ago? xD It doesn’t really make sense to me. And then everybody just goes back to being chill on the next page.

Jumbo is asking why (なんで) Yotsuba’s dad is wearing pants - as per page 124 he usually doesn’t at home and Jumbo knows it.

p. 66 why does Fuuka say 「本屋さーん」? Is this the same as さん meaning person? Is she saying “I’m a bookstore person”, as in, “I’m the kind of person who likes bookstores”?

Yes it means bookseller or just bookstore - she has just being asked where she is going. You might be reading left to right?

Yes, you can use さん after a local store when you go there often (or want to give that impression!). You wouldn’t really use it for a department store or huge supermarket, but for the older kind of family run shops.

I’m having big problems! Not only have I got less time at the moment to spend on よつばと！, but the text somehow seems impenetrable to me this week.
On page 120 the mum says 許せないわ. The vocab cheat sheet says 許す means “to forgive”. Jisho says it means to permit or allow. So is she saying she can not forgive あさぎ (for eating an ice-cream!), or that she can not allow it?
And did she really call あさぎ a failure in the previous panel on page 119?

This depends on context, but since it already happened it should be clear that the meaning is can’t forgive.
Yes; Fuuka was being a good girl in contrast to Asagi stealing her ice cream.

In this context it means “I won’t forget and forgive that”, an expression of anger.
It is used in the following way:
1st you tell a story, that describes what happened, and you finish with 許せない, demonstrating that you have hard feelings about it.
You can even use it in situations where you don’t have the power to actually forgive, because it was not your business to begin with:「あの女の子を殴ったのを許せない！」
It feels like you are going to make someone pay.

Just finished chapter one! ^o^/ I’m slowly catching up!
I also ordered Vols 1 and 2. This manga really is nice to read, lots of practice. Reading it aloud helps, because I can kind of understand what the heck Yotsuba is saying if I say it aloud. I’m also using the memrise vocab thing to study vocab for it before I read sections. So when I do open the manga, it feels like I’m reading like normal, not hugging a dictionary for support.

That was a fun read! I tried to only look up words I absolutely didn’t know, and I just sorta guessed the rest through context. That was probably one of the first times I’ve laughed at raw manga, lol. Thanks for the link!
