This offshoot reading club is to continue reading this ongoing series together through scheduled reading. This series is mangaka duo 森下suu’s longest series yet, so there’s a lot of material to read!
For scheduling consideration, it’s best to wait a bit longer due to other book clubs.
Both the ABBC (「俺物語!!」) and the BBC (「ヤマノススメ」) are starting new volumes this weekend. For anyone planning on joining one or both of those, starting an extra volume on top of that can be a bit much. Either you’re a less experienced reader who can’t take on too much all at once, or you’re an experienced reader who’s already joined too many book clubs as it is. (There is no in-between.)
Are you planning on joining either of these book clubs?
I’m joining 俺物語!! with the Absolute Beginner Book Club.
I’m joining ヤマノススメ with the Beginner Book Club.
I’m not joining either.

@LazyWerebear, don’t hesitate to keep us updated on your order placement/parcel arrival status! (But no pressure. No need to travel haflway around the world to hassle the postal service.)
For anyone who missed out on reading volume one, the digital release is half-price through the end of September.
Order still says “ready to ship” so my guess is it’s just waiting on a batch to go out with from Japan.
Sounds like we’re waiting just a bit longer but if I need to get a digital copy I can do that. Or I’ll just catch up when my books arrive. No need to wait on me.
The vocabulary list @josephsl made for each week was invaluable to me during the first volume’s book club (and someone else stepped in on Week 10 to help but I cannot find who did that, thank you whoever that was!).
Using a bit of OCR and python scripts I’m generating vocabulary then cleaning it up manually. I can’t promise everything is 100% correct so I’ve made it editable by anyone. If you see something wrong/questionable feel free to comment or just correct it on the sheet.
I’ll do my best to keep it updated ahead of the next chapter (even if just for my own sake ).
I hope this may be of help to y’all as well! And one exciting thing is, as I began working through it I noticed that I’m finding I need it much less than volume 1 already!
One last thing, I think Josephsl did a good job at balancing important vocab/grammar and not including EVERY SINGLE THING. I’ve already trimmed out common particles and names of the characters but I did allow duplicates from page to page (so vocab by page is unique, but the same item could show up again later if on a different page). I’m still trying to figure out what is most helpful so if you have any feedback on the list feel free to let me know!
